I mean, its weekday morning block is good, and primetime is OK-ish (could use a bit of work, in my opinion), but most of the rest seems to be saturated with Deal or No Deal and Family Feud. And the weekend schedule is a nightmare of back-to-back blocks.
Is anyone else wishing for a wider variety of shows out of GSN?

In Spades! Hey, if they want all those hours of Family Feud to mean something, why not have Dawson and Combs episodes on the regular lineup?

Yeah. It feels like they hate Dawson or something. Combs had big shoes to fill, but he did give it a decent shot and he lasted longer than some of his successors.

They've been lacking since like 2009. My provider dropped GSN from our package back in 2011 or so but I really don't care anymore.

Hey, if they want all those hours of Family Feud to mean something, why not have Dawson and Combs episodes on the regular lineup? Thing is, they do mean something -- Harvey Feud's getting consistently high ratings for GSN, so for them it doesn't really matter that everything aside from the weekday morning lineup is from within the past 10 years. (Although, to be fair, the weekday morning lineup is doing wonders with the fanbase.)

Absolutely. There are plenty of game shows out there, especially classics, that could be in the lineup. Where's Lingo, Greed, or Power of 10? Where's classic Newlywed Game if they're showing the latest one? There's so much out there for GSN to show, but they aren't showing it.
I can take several episodes of Harvey Feud on a weekday, but over 15 hours of it on a weekend is just too much, even if it brings in high ratings. As a matter of fact, this Sunday has only FOUR distinct shows in its 17-hour lineup, all from the last ten years. No classics.

Unfortunately I don't get GSN on my Dish. However I did see their line up online and it needs some work. We need more variety in shows. I'd like to see some classic game shows as well as GSN originals.

It would be a good idea to bring back more classic shows and cut back on the Harvey Family Feud and original shows. I also think that they could bring back the interactive element where you could win prizes in real time. That's probably what made the network blossom in the late 90's and early 00's.

Absolutely. Who doesn't? In fact, if there's anyone here who works at GSN, can you please tell us what's going on?
Hopefully, someday, GSN will have new staff who will make up for all this with more variety, maybe even with surviving episodes of Woolery Wheel. I know it's unlikely, but who knows? I've been having dreams where I've seen 1975 episodes. I want those dreams to become reality along with the dreams where I've got my hands on that Live Play game I've been waiting for over a decade now. If GSN can fulfill the former, that'll be a great bargain for us. The best we can do at this point is just be patient by finding something else we'd like to watch.

Basically, Harvey Feud is cheaper to buy, and gets the most money for its views, and gets a fair share of those, relative to cost. Given how poorly Sony is doing money-wise, and that analysis was prehack, they need to make all the money they can, and can't do as many variety/special shows, because they cost much more and bring back a lot less. It's also why shows like PYL have been given some shorter leases, since it costs less money that way. They are a business, not a fan service, first and foremost, as they should be, to benefit shareholder wealth, above all else. We've discussed this before. Not too happy with this thread when basically the same thread existed a few months back, and I basically had to say the same thing. Can we please take a lesson from the Game Show Forum? Don't be Vanna Nissan. Thanks.

Absolutely it does with money; this is buisness, but I had no idea that Sony had not been doing well financially. When you brought that up, it reminded me of the contract disputes Dish had. The one that affected me the most was Turner as I watch some of their channels. My mother was unhappy when she was not given any rate decreases. So, yes, you definitely have a point there, Prizes.

Forgive me for being uncharacteristically optimistic, but to Jess's point, I'd say that GSN is actually being generous with its schedule variety. Considering how minor GSN is to Sony overall and the wealth of fiscal problems the company has (never mind the back), GSN could really be doing much worse.

Upon hearing news that Fremantle is going to launch Buzzr TV, I'm going to give another opinion based on this announcement. Currently, GSN is what I call good in spots, but too repetitive elswhere. Some of the Family Feud is from the O'Hurley era, so it isn't wall-to-wall Harvey. I still feel given that GSN is owned by the same company who owns Wheel and Jeopardy! along with the fact that those shows have continued to produced new episodes/seasons in the can is no excuse since it doesn't cost anything extra to lease shows they own. At least it's producing some decent originals as of late (Idiotest, The Chase, Baggage) that really shows that cable game shows still live on. There are also some decent originals that haven't been run for over a decade (Inquizition, Russian Roulette) that could be given a second wind instead. That said, at least we're getting some new classics as of late (early 1986 Press Your Luck, Winner's Board Sale of the Century, 1988 $25,000 Pyramid) to at least make me continue to DVR daily for my after-work viewing pleasure. The bottom line is that this still makes tape trading (which I've recently made my first three trades, including a couple Woolery-era Wheel episodes) viable.
Buzzr TV is currently scheduled to air on a limited number of markets on its FOX O&O stations (I get WTTG so I might get this channel to check it out) of mostly shows from Mark Goodson (Bill Todman) Productions along with some Stephen Hatos-Monty Hall shows such as Let's Make a Deal, including Dawson & Combs Family Feud. It is trying to be MeTV/Antenna TV to what TV Land is now with the original network gradually phasing out classics but having a new "nostalgia network" for the classics. Just don't expect Wheel on this due to rights.
