*NCAA theme*Greg: First Round action in the 2015 Game Show Turdament begins now. We take you live to Tyler, Texas, where Verne Lundquist and Jim Spanarkel have the first game from the Rosen Bracket.Match #1Verne: Thanks, Greg. Jim, we're starting off tonight with a very interesting 8-9 matchup.Jim: That's right, Verne. The #8 seed is a perennial nominee for one of the worst game show concepts of all time.3's a Crowd (Syn, 1979, Jim Peck)The game show that caused more divorces than "The Newlywed Game".That turkey will go up against the #9 seed in this bracket, a show so bad that not even the host would reveal himself.Inquizition (GSN, 1998-2001, ?? as the Inquizitor)A boring Q&A format and a super-cheap grand prize. What were you expecting, the Spanish Inquisition? That's all from Tyler right now. Let's head up to Nampa, Idaho, for the first contest in the Wagner Bracket. For that preview, here's Jim Nantz and Bill Raftery.Match #2Jim: We've got a real pair of turds to start the festivities here in the Potato State. Although this is a 3-14 match, it's pretty clear that neither one of these shows should have been made.Bill: Yeah, that's right, Jim. Our #3 seed had two good game show formats that absolutely did not belong together.Who's Still Standing? (NBC, 2011-12, Ben Bailey)Primetime bastard-child of "Wheel of Fortune" and "Russian Roulette", complete with annoying Santa Claus voiceovers, misplaced commercial breaks, and overworked contestant coordinators. The #14 seed had the potential to be a lot better than it actually was.Monopoly (ABC, 1990, Mike Reilly)Three years of development and a superb pilot hosted by Peter Tomarken... but this is the crap we got instead. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200.Let's go out to Lynchburg, Virginia, for some Burleson Bracket action. For more, here's Marv Albert and Craig Sager.Match #3Marv: It's a 4-13 match to begin the quartet of games at the top half of this portion of the bracket. Two GSN turds will duke it out.Craig: Indeed they are. A bad GSN revival and a bad GSN rip-off. The bad GSN revival is this #4 seed:1 vs. 100 (GSN, 2010-11, Carrie Ann Inaba) -- no video available Don't look shocked, ladies. Carrie Ann and the virtual mob made this show virtually unwatchable. It actually made us wish that Bob Saget was still the host. And here's the bad GSN rip-off sitting in the #13 seed:Burt Luddin's Love Buffet (GSN, 1998-2000, John Cervanka as Burt Luddin) -- no video available The "Newlywed Game" rip-off pretending to be a reality show.If those six pieces of crap weren't enough for you, we're sending you to Kiron, Iowa, for two pieces of crap in the Goddard Bracket. For that match, here's Lewis Johnson and Steve Smith.Match #4Lewis: We'll be taking a look at the first of this turdament's #2 seeds tonight. It was one of the most overblown turds in recent memory. It'll be facing off against a forgettable revival of a classic game show.Steve: Yeah. These two game shows made me throw up in my mouth a little bit just thinking about them. Here's that huge pile of #2:The Million Second Quiz (NBC, 2013, Ryan Seacrest)The most hyped game show special in recent TV history turned into one of the biggest disasters in all of TV history... and that's not even counting what went on behind the cameras. It's no wonder that NCAA Turdaments president Fireball called this "The Million Second Waste of My Time".And here's the #15 seed that it must play:Big Deal (FOX, 1996, Mark DeCarlo)Exactly what most of America said when FOX decided to add "Let's Make a Deal" and "Truth or Consequences", but leave Monty Hall out of the equation. What else did you expect from a Stone-Stanley production?Votes on these matches will be accepted until Friday July 3 at 6:15 PM Eastern.

Boy...this is tough. * 3's A Crowd was the sleazy Chuck Barris show that broke the camel's back, causing the downfall of his empire and Jim Peck's career. Inquizition, with its "host whose name is hidden because gimmick and nothing more", was harmless fluff. 7-4 in favor of the Inquizitor.* Who's Still Standing? was a mess on both sides of the camera. Monopoly was a good show that just got saddled with a bad host. 9-2 in favor of Merv Griffin.* While GSN's 1 vs. 100 was the result of the Xbox Live version's demise, it at least kept to the same format. All Love Buffet had going for it was Charlie O'Donnell. 8-3 in favor of GSN.* ...Good lord, this matchup is terrible. The Million-Second Quiz had an okay format, but the money meaning nothing until the final hour and all the behind-the-scenes bullcrap meant it was just a mess. At least Big Deal was an interesting fusion of LMAD and TOC. 7-4 in favor of FOX.

Abstain from all four matches once again. I'm familiar with only 3's a Crowd, Monopoly, and Million Second Quiz from this batch.

Oh look, more matches I'll have to abstain from...
Match 1: I have to abstain from this one due to not having seen Inquizition. Off the record, I will say that 3's a Crowd was a hot mess, though it would go well when paired with Divorce Court - teams from 3aC would probably end up there. Inquizition I know only by reputation, its format is pretty vanilla and its payout super low, even for a GSN show (I mean, come on, $500 for the winner and the losers get jack? CHEAP!) My shiggles vote would go 7-4 for Inquizition.
Match 2: This one is the only one of the set I can actually vote in. Who's Still Standing, like MGHS, had potential to be better than it was, with the elements from both Wheel and Russian Roulette involved. It ended up being simply okay and a pretty big disappointment for NBC, who canceled it due to production costs (that's right, not ratings, production costs). Likewise, Monopoly could have been better with some slight format tweaks to lessen some of the dependence on trivia and to focus more on the game it was adapting. Its legacy lives on, though, in the Monopoly Millionaires Club's Go for a Million endgame (and speaking of MMC, if you haven't seen it, you should). This is a close one for me, but I'm going to say that Who's Still Standing avoids dropping out with 6 points, while Monopoly rolls up just 5.
Match 3: Again I must abstain due to not having seen Burt Luddin's Love Buffet. Unofficially, I will say that 1 vs. 100 was certainly a comedown from the network version, but that was to be expected on the GSN budget (you had to eliminate 70 Mob members to even get up to GSN's normal $5,000 payout). Carrie Ann Inaba might not be the best host, but she kept the game moving decently, and that's about all you can ask on these kinds of spinoffs. Love Buffet I only know by reputation, but it's not a particularly great reputation - not a bad one per se, but certainly not a good one. Just-for-fun vote on this one goes 8-3 for 1 vs. 100.
Match 4: Once more, you get to see me abstain because I'd never even really heard of Big Deal. Million Second Quiz is another show that could and should have been a slam dunk, but technical problems combined with an inconsistent format and general messiness made it a big joke. Big Deal, from what I've seen in reading up on the show and watching the given clip, is kind of an interesting twist on the LMaD concept, but not different enough to form its own identity in the limited airings it actually got (six episodes, and only THREE aired completely due to football running over). My non-counting vote for this match would have been 7-4 for Big Deal.

...you realize both shows were on GSN, right? Well, derp. 8-3 in favor of 1 vs. 100, then. Based on the logic of your explanation, I figured that your points would go in favor of 1 vs. 100. But I did want to hear it from you before I went in and edited your votes myself... which is what I may have to do any time JayC votes on G-R.net because he needs to keep being told to give the fewest points to the worst f**king shows! Aaugh!

*NCAA theme*
Greg: Bringing you up to date on the matches that just ended. In Texas, the 8-9 match was a blowout. Inquizition takes 3's a Crowd (Peck) to the torture chamber by a score of 66-22. 3's a Crowd (Peck) cheeses its way to the Second Round.
In Idaho, we saw the night's biggest win. Monopoly rounds the board with a score of 80-40. Who's Still Standing? stays upright in this turdament.
It was a different story in the other half of the brackets. Down in Virginia, we had the first major upset of the turdament. 1 vs. 100 (Inaba) mobs Burt Luddin's Love Buffet with a score of 55-22. 13th-seeded Love Buffet is playing another game.
Finally, in Iowa, it was a close match between a #2 seed and a #15 seed. In the end, Big Deal zonks The Million Second Quiz, 36-30. Ryan Peefest will be hanging around in this turdament a little longer.
Stay tuned for more First Round action... after this.

*NCAA theme*Ernie: Welcome back to CBS's coverage of the 2015 Big Ass Ham Game Show Turdament. Four new matches are just about to begin, as we see the replacement refs reminding voter JayC that he needs to give the worst shows the fewest points.Match #5Ernie: Getting back to the matches. In the Rosen Bracket, we have this #5 seed:Wheel 2000 (CBS/GSN, 1997-98, David Sidoni)Scott Sternberg's junior version of "America's Game" eliminated everything that was actually good about "America's Game".At the #12 seed is this flashy dud:Duel (ABC, 2007-08, Mike Greenberg)This short-lived quiz show combined WWTBAM and poker--two things that don't belong together. The stereotyping of potential contestants sent a lot of game show purists over the edge. And Greeny was just... there. Fortunately, most people didn't subject themselves to the second season of this piece of crap because it competed with TPIR's Million Dollar Spectaculars and WWE SmackDown.Match #6In the Wagner Bracket, we have the overproduced cringe-fest that spawned "Identity", "Duel", and a host of other primetime turds. In the #7 slot... you guessed it!Deal or No Deal (NBC, 2005-09, Howie Mandel)The most famous metal suitcases in the world were full of cash and unnecessary suspense, and ready to be picked by contestants straight out of central casting. NBC also syndicated a half-hour version that followed the UK/Australia format, but it was more wheeling and dealing than the public could tolerate. Both shows were gone by 2010, but GSN has been running the reruns into the ground ever since.Facing Howie and the ladies will be a terrible update of a classic dating game show. Your #10 seed:Love Connection (Syn, 1998-99, Pat Bullard)An inocuous revival of Chuck Woolery's long-running dating game show, complete with cheap set and that grinning fool Pat Bullard.Match #7For the Burleson Bracket, it's another 8-9 battle. The #8 seed goes to a past Patrick Wayne Award winner:Love Triangle (GSN, 2011, Wendy Williams) -- no video available How you doin'?! Disgusted, after watching this game show version of "Maury Povich".It will be playing against yet another hyped-up primetime pile. The #9 seed:Million Dollar Password (CBS, 2008-09, Regis Philbin)You need only two words to describe this show: Bastardized... Pyramid.Match #8Finally, in the Goddard Bracket, we have two more primetime bombs from the brain trusts at NBC and ABC. NBC has this entry at #7:It's Worth What? (NBC, 2011, Cedric the Entertainer)"Price Is Right" knock-off with unique objects and antiques. Are we sure this show belongs in this turdament? We're sure sure. And we have ABC to thank for this #10 seed:National Bingo Night (ABC, 2007, Ed Sanders)Less exciting than a bingo hall full of old ladies.Since Turdaments president Fireball will be on vacation for the next few days, votes will be accepted on these four matches until Friday July 10 at noon Eastern.

Finally, a pair that I can compare (assuming that you're allowed to rank them even if you haven't done so before).
I actually liked the gameplay concept of multiple choice questions and Poker. However, it was executed like any other WWTBAM ripoff. Wheel 2000's gameplay was slow, its budget was lacking, and it tried a bit too hard to be hip.
But Wheel 2000 has won this Duel. Or to be less confusing, Wheel 2000 (8 points) vs. Duel (3 points). Whether or not it counts, I just had to get at least one opinion out there.

Oh boy, eight shows I can tear into. * Wheel 2000 tried way too hard to appeal to kids ( Joker! Joker! Joker! showed that you can adapt a show for children without losing its heart and soul), but it still had something there and I feel like it was the last desperate gasp for daytime Wheel. Duel had a crappy first season and a tolerable second one, and if this were only judged on Season 2 I'd put it through...but no, not with Season 1 full of padding and stereotypes and bullcrap. 8-3 in favor of Merv Griffin's legacy.* Deal or No Deal started out well, but turned into nigh-unwatchable mess by the end with its eight-hour taping sessions and a whole pile of other bullcrap. Bullard's Love Connection was crap, but it was harmless crap; DOND has had lasting consequences for the genre, and none of 'em are good. 9-2 in favor of Pat Bullard.* Love Triangle was crap, but again it was harmless crap. Million-Dollar Password was...okay, but throwing out 27 years of improvements to the format to satisfy the "primetime network game show" mentality caused by DOND and throwing out entire games if the bonus round was lost on the first level were head-bashing crap. If you want a good Password, Jimmy Fallon's doing the late-1960s format and Greggo's showing that Super is still the most fun of 'em all. 8-3 in favor of Wendy Williams.* It's Worth What? (or as the audience would say, "It's worth WHAAAAAAT?!?") was okay. Granted, it was essentially Price with nigh-impossible difficulty and the game variety of Make Me A Millionaire, but otherwise it wasn't bad. National Bingo Night had a Big-Ass Number Jumbler, and yet was edited to within an inch of its life so ABC could do a "seeded" instant-win sweepstakes...not to mention the inane rule that if the onstage player competed their task and an audience member got a bingo, the audience member won. 9-2 in favor of Cedric the Entertainer.

Yep, just one I can actually vote in again...
Match 5: And this would be the one. I have some fond memories of Wheel 2000, and it did a pretty good job of filling its role as an exciting kids' game show. It's not perfect by any means, and it pales in comparison to the format it derives from, but I honestly don't think it belongs here. Likewise, Duel had a very solid format as far as the gameplay goes, but it suffered from a bit of meddling between seasons, as the week-long big-money tournament from Season 1 was shelved in favor of the cheaper weekly style of Season 2. I honestly prefer the Season 2 style for an ongoing series, but having a million-plus-dollar show suddenly cutting back their top prize to just half a million reeks of cheap and can turn off viewers. Both are great shows, neither deserves to move on, but one has to... Duel wins in a shootout, outspinning Wheel 2000 by a fairly close score of 7-4.
Match 6: I must abstain due to not having seen Love Connection. Off the record, I will say that Deal or No Deal in primetime was enjoyable in the earlier parts of its run, before all the gimmicks and before the Million Dollar Mission, and the daytime version was... okay. Of course, if you want an example of good Deal or No Deal, the UK version is far superior, and has enjoyed a longer run as a result (even with a lesser payout). Love Connection... I never really got into, even with Chuck hosting, and with Pat Bullard at the helm you know it's even worse. My just-for-fun vote runs 9-2 in favor of Deal or No Deal.
Match 7: Again, I've got to abstain due to not being able to see Love Triangle. I will say though, that Million Dollar Password... was not million-dollar and was barely Password. It was pretty much a massive letdown from start to finish, and I'm surprised it got a second season (though with the low amount of prizes given out, I guess they could afford it), but Regis did the best he could to keep it together and we at least got Betty White back on TV. Love Triangle... well, the less said about these "romance game shows" the better. Shiggles vote goes 9-2 in favor of Million Dollar Password.
Match 8: Once more I have to abstain, because I only saw a few bits of It's Worth What and nothing of National Bingo Night prior to this. It's Worth What seems more like a game you'd play with your friends at a flea market, not on primetime TV for up to a million dollars - it just doesn't do it much for me. National Bingo Night had its own problems, nailing the primetime vibe but lacking any kind of compelling gameplay, not to mention the fact that the audience could steal the prize at the last minute. Both of these shows are kind of blah, but one is more blah than the other. My just-for-fun vote gives the edge to It's Worth What by a score of 8-3.

Having just returned from our long vacation to the Gulf Coast, I'm going to dispense with the NCAA shtick and give everybody just the results tonight.
These four matches were not close at all. The four game shows that lost undoubtedly lost big.
In the Rosen Bracket, #12 Duel won the duel against #5 Wheel 2000, 98-45. Cyber Lucy moved on to Round 2.
In the Wagner Bracket, it was a slight upset seed-wise, although most people were not surprised by this one. #7 Deal or No Deal (NBC) dealt itself out of the turdament against #10 Love Connection (Bullard), 97-24. Pat Bullard got into the second round, and this may not be his only appearance there.
In the Burleson Bracket, #9 Million Dollar Password had the final word and beat #8 Love Triangle, 66-11. GSN got its third entry into the Round of 32, and it certainly won't be the network's last.
Finally, in the Goddard Bracket, there was another slight upset. #7 It's Worth What? was the sure sure victor against #10 National Bingo Night, 59-29. The bingo hopper hopped into the next round.
The next four pairings will be posted shortly.

Next four matches on tap. We'll go through these quickly since I'm really tired. Match #9The Rosen Bracket's #4 seed is GSN's massive cat turd: The Meow Mix Think Like a Cat Game Show (GSN, 2008, Chuck Woolery)Chuck took the money and ran like a cheetah after hosting this one-off game show special that was nothing more than a commercial for Meow Mix Wholesome Goodness cat food (which has since been discontinued due to poor sales). Proof positive that a pile of feline feces belongs in a litterbox, not on a TV.In this catfight is the #13 seed, which has already seen action earlier: The Weakest Link (Syn, 2002-03, George Gray) This show lost in the play-in match against Let's Make a Deal (Brady), 108-68.Match #10Let's have a look at another #2 seed. Over in the Wagner Bracket, it was "no sale" for one of the most awful revivals in game show history: Shop 'Til You Drop (PAX, 2003-05, J.D. Roberto)The megastore was a megafail.Facing it will be this #15 seed, hosted and produced by a game show legend on an off-day: Shuffle: The Interactive Game (Family Channel, 1994, Wink Martindale)The worst of Family Channel's infamous interactive block.Match #11I think we're due for a #1 seed to see some action, so here it comes. Heading up the Burleson Bracket is the GSN revival that totally blows. B-L-O-W-S! Lingo (GSN, 2011, Bill Engvall)It took a lot of balls to force dirty clues into a word game that didn't need them. Hey, Bill, here's your sign: Your show is f**king crap! This show gets to play against a fellow GSN bomb--a #16 seed that has already been battle tested: Lie Detectors (GSN, 2015, Rove McManus) Earlier, this show failed to impress voters when compared to Where in Time Is Carmen Sandiego? It lost by a score of 44-11.Match #12We close out with the Goddard Bracket. The #3 seed is a current game show revival under its first host: Family Feud (Syn, 1999-2002, Louie Anderson)Show me terrible! Is it up there?! Louie may be a great stand-up comedian and voiceover actor, but he was uncomfortable and unbelievable in the role of game show host, and the show itself suffered because of it. The producers eventually gave Louie the Patrick Duffy treatment and brought in Richard "I'M DOUBLING THE POINTS!" Karn. Unlike "Bingo America", Karn kept this show afloat... but he himself got replaced by Twinkletoes, who in turn got replaced by "WE GONNA PLAY, STEVE!"Its competition is another play-in loser from earlier in this turdament. The #14 seed: Strip Poker (Syn/USA, 1999-2001, Graham Elwood) This show was a 7-2 offsuit against Dog Eat Dog's pocket kings. Not surprisingly, Dog Eat Dog won, 73-15.Votes are due on Monday July 13 at 7 PM Eastern.

Because damn. I couldn't even tell from the post that it was an actual game show...

Robert Seidelman did a brilliant slam on this game show in his very first video induction for Game Show Garbage.

Abstain from all. All pairings have a show I've never seen before (Think Like a Cat, Shuffle, Lie Detectors, and Strip Poker); in addition, I don't think I recognize the set pictured for STYD.

I'm in the same boat as Coug, having to abstain from all matches due to not having seen Think Like a Cat, Shuffle, Lie Detectors, or Strip Poker.
If I were to cast some shiggles votes based on what I do know of the shows (still without having seen them), I'd go with...
...Weakest Link being the strongest link in Match 9, scoring 10-1 over Think Like a Cat. Link was rightfully beaten by Brady Deal in the play-in match, but it definitely deserves to be shown the door in this one. I can't find it in me to give a Chuck Woolery-hosted show a zero, but I'm still thankful that Million Dollar Cat Show only lasted one episode...
...Shop Till You Drop picking up the bigger bargain in Match 10, taking it 7-4 over Shuffle. From what I've read on Shuffle, it's just a very boring format that boils down to a bunch of Fastest Finger questions. Not necessarily as bad as some of the true shitstains in this turdament, but not good either. Roberto STYD, while pretty bad compared to the Finn version, at least has more character to it...
...Lingo manages to score (S-C-O-R-E) more points than Lie Detectors in Match 11, winning 8-3. Were all the format tinkers they made necessary? Not at all, but bad Lingo is still better than the best of what I've heard about Lie Detectors. Engvall at least managed to complete his run of shows, Detectors got pulled halfway through. When you get pulled from GSN, you know you've done gone and screwed up bad...
...and Anderson Feud stealing a win from Strip Poker in Match 12 by a score of 9-2. Louie did a serviceable job, even if he's not anywhere near the best host there's been, and it's hard to mess up a format like Feud (although Pearson/Fremantle managed it with Bullard Card Sharks). Strip Poker was never properly strip OR poker, but again it's not as bad as many other shows in the turdament.
Hopefully I can actually vote in the next set of matches, but I wanted to chime in my opinions anyway while I had the chance.
