* Mind of a Man may have sucked, but at least it didn't destroy friendships like The Neighbors did. On the other hand, I can't just zero-out the latter since it had some competence behind it (Bill Carruthers as showrunner, Regis Philbin as host) and an okay format. 7-4 in favor of GSN. * Jep! may have sucked pretty hard, but it ended up benefiting the franchise overall since it led to regular Kids Weeks. On the other hand, Phallic Feud is a soulless cash cow that goes out of its way to let Steve Harvey go on tangents for as long as he wants -- the game itself is no longer the focus, just something to do between Steve's standup routines. If Mark Goodson were still alive, I'm sure he'd be giving the staff a sizable piece of his mind. 9-2 in favor of GSN.
* Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? has long since stopped being relevant (what is it, a decade since the last legit Millionaire?), and I can't 100% fault the Super Mix format since IIRC it was devised by Jay Wolpert, a guy known for his offbeat ideas. As the Shuffle format wore on, Meredith seemed to get less and less interested in things, and understandably so. The revolving door of emcees hasn't helped things, and I know a few people who called the return to the standard format next season a desperation move. ** Blank Check, on the other hand, didn't damage a franchise (although it did have ramifications for The Price Is Right years later) but it was still kinda dull...and, if my research is accurate, got worse and cheaper as time went on. 6-5 in favor of Barry-Enright.
* While the main focus of The Chamber was crap, the host and preliminary game were fine. (Of course the latter would be fine, it's pretty much the front game of Pass the Buck.) Hidden Agenda had a stupid host who openly encouraged wives to get their husbands drunk so they'll be more compliant, and probably destroyed a marriage or two for the...what, $1,000 or so the show offered? 9-2 in favor of GSN.

I could be wrong, but I wouldn't know what show you were voting for in match 2, as Harvey Feud is a LOT of GSN's line up right now. In general, this is why I think it's best to just say the show you're going for rather than going cute with this stuff.

And I think it's good to know WHY you're making your vote, as opposed to just throwing random numbers at the screen.

Match 1: I haven't even heard of The Neighbors until now, so I have no choice but to abstain.
Match 2: Jep! is nothing more than a kid-friendly Jeopardy! clone hosted by Porky Pig, while Harvey Feud is basically the same Feud that's been going on for years (minus the Anderson and Karn years). The "video not necessary" line is great, though. Steve plays Jep! out, 8 to 3.
Match 3: Haven't seen Blank Check, so I have to abstain again.
Match 4: I have no idea what Hidden Agenda is and I don't really care to find out, so I have to abstain yet again.

GSN was the network of origin for Jep!, whereas the current run of Family Feud is syndicated. As for the reasoning, I'm not trying to be cute. I've seen some people just throw out numbers on the parallel threads over at Golden-Road, and it kinda bugs me that they don't explain their reasoning. I judge shows based on not only their own merits, but what they've done to their respective franchises and/or the genre as a whole; for instance, I consider Deal or No Deal a turd not just because of its own gimmicks and bullcrap, but because it spawned a whole "style" of game shows that rely on over-the-top personalities and extreme amounts of padding and spoilers. (Then again, I know some people who don't like it when Card Sharks contestants explain their reasoning for their responses to the survey questions, so...)

Note for match 31: Who wants to be a millionaire will bring back the original format when chris Harrison takes over. A bastardized version of the classic format, yes. It'll likely still be shit.

I meant getting cute with the whole GSN, Barry-Enright, Goodson-Todman, etc, instead of just saying 9-2 in favor of Millionaire, or whatever. I think THAT can potentially confuse people, and THAT'S what I meant by getting cute, rather than the explanations. That I agree with you with.

Greg: It's finally time to lock up Round 1 of the inaugural Game Show Turdament! In the Rosen Bracket, Mind of a Man manhandled The Neighbors, 34-10. The Neighbors moves one house down in the bracket. In the Wagner Bracket, Family Feud (Harvey) wasn't phallic enough to move ahead, although it ironically scored 69 points. JEP! took the loss with a score of 41.In the Burleson Bracket, opinions were very strong on both sides. In the end, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? (shuffle) llamaed out of the turdament with a score of 49-39. Blank Check became the second #15 seed to write itself a blank ticket to Round 2. The Burleson Bracket was brutal, as three of the top four seeds were eliminated in the first round. Our 32d and final match ended with Hidden Agenda coming out of the dark, taking a 33-11 victory. The Chamber will turn up the heat in the next round.Greg: Tomorrow night, Round 2 begins with eight game shows playing for the first four berths into the S**t Sixteen. Before we leave you tonight, here are some music compilations for your enjoyment. Clips from every 1980s song that peaked at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100. Yes, it's part of an unused bonus round from last year's Name That Tune special on Golden-Road.net.www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5Sz0ul66JEwww.youtube.com/watch?v=-qmKlXoMNec
