I did have a thought that they could make it so the Prize Puzzle trip doesn't count towards the contestant's total, but I think you're right about it being counterintuitive. Maybe another solution could be to add an additional step for a contestant to actually win it, like have them solve an additional puzzle in order to win it and if they don't solve the additional puzzle they get a smaller cash bonus as a consolation instead.

A recent thread in the "Buying Your Time" section kinda influenced me to comment here.
Yes, the Prize Puzzle (or Trip Puzzle) is a bit dumb, especially when most of the time it determines who wins the game (the value of it hovers from $7K-$12K). Offering prizes like cars and cabin cruisers in that round would be a big no-no as they can be even more of a game-breaker than it already is (especially when the average price of a new car nowadays starts at $20K).
Given it's longevity, I doubt that this feature will be retired (I believe the $4K bonus in the Triple Toss-Up was made to combat how OP the Trip Puzzle is). However, puzzles like ENDLESS WHITE SAND BEACHES aren't going to stop anytime soon.
Some people don't mind this feature (like Andy Nguyen from S35). However, people really need to play it smart to win the guaranteed trip (and not be like that college student from last season who thought there was an F in LAPTOP).

There was one time where the prize was cash. Maybe they can do cash for the prize puzzle.

^ Eh, not really. The Trip Puzzle is a great way for the show to get tons of sponsorships from travel companies (Collette, FlightGuru) without making the game look cheap. Plus, there’s the chance of a contestant forfeiting a trip.

For season 31, they also gave cameras with the trip. Why did they stop that? They should do that again.

There was one time where the prize was cash. Maybe they can do cash for the prize puzzle. Do you mean the prize wedge that's on the wheel in the first two rounds? Whenever they offer cash it's a cash prize provided by a sponsor.

Carrying over from my post on the Prize Puzzle: Over the years, since its PERMANENT debut back in the mid-2000s, the Prize Puzzles have always consisted of a wonderful trip to places like Costa Rica, Hawaii, Mexico, etc. Don't get me wrong, the trips are very nice. But there always comes a time when you'd want to see or try something different. You know what I think they should do differently with the Prize Puzzles, especially for next season? They should consider playing for a prize other than a trip. Maybe a new Car, a Trailer, or a Cabin Cruiser just to name a few examples. As far as I know, NONE of those things have ever been played for in a Prize Puzzle before. So, who knows? Maybe the new Executive Producers will reach that conclusion and try something different with the Prize Puzzles for next season! There's only one way to find out.
What do you think?
Do you think it's time Wheel play for something different in the Prize Puzzle other than trips?
And what new prize suggestions do you have for the Prize Puzzle?

Prizes like cars, trailers, and boats would make the Prize Puzzle that much more of an automatic win for whoever wins it. It would also not really work budget wise, if they did do that for the Prize Puzzle probably most of the bonus puzzles would be super difficult.

And what new prize suggestions do you have for the Prize Puzzle? what do you mean "carrying over" from your post? you literally just copy/pasted your previous post in its entirety and then reposted the exact same thing three (3) days later.. you even ignored the fact that wheelfan910 replied to your original post seven (7) minutes after you initially posted it, implying what a terrible idea you had, by (correctly) explaining that the game is already broken enough, and more expensive prizes during that round would just make everything that much worse. nobody "overlooked" your original post, it was observed and subsequently responded to a short seven (7) minutes after you made it. respamming an identical copy of your post either because you didnt bother to look for a response, or you didnt like what was said, is no way to get your obviously faulty idea across. i made an account here just to tell you how goofy that was. heres what wheelfan910 said in response to your op, in case you missed it. The prize puzzle is already enough of a golden snitch and using any of those prizes would make it worse and even more imbalanced. I don’t see the show ever getting rid of it solely because it is usually sponsored, having the extra ad spot within the show is more profitable than outright scrapping it. have a great day.

IIRC, Jarvis originally made his first post in a recap thread, was told to post here (as seen by WooWho's message), he essentially reposted here without deleting the previous post, and then the original post and subsequent Prize Puzzle discussion in that recap thread was moved by another moderator to this thread.
Normally, I'd agree that reposting the same thing twice in the same thread is lazy, but there's a reason behind it.
please don't put cars in the prize puzzle
