This was inspired by another thread, which I just read, and unfortunately is dead (hey, I just rhymed!).
The origin of my username was that I am indeed *the* Game Show Guy...and even my family now knows it because I talk about it almost non-stop, and I have game show merchandise...a lot more. My collection is growing..gradually. That's better than not at all.
the "2000" is for the year of the million-dollar game show craze. And yes, we'll count Weakest Link, even though that was 2001. Heck, why not count Deal or No Deal, 1 vs. 100, and Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader since they're million-dollar game shows debuting in 2005, 2006, and 2007, respectively.
(A little OT side note: Yes, I still think 2000 was the first year of the current century/millennium since it was called "The Millennium Bug"; feel free to prove otherwise!)

I've been using "Giraffe Boy" as a handle since the 1990s. I was eating at an Ed DeBevic's when they had one in L.A. The waitress was taking drink orders (servers there were known for having an attitude act) and she asked me, "Hey Giraffe Boy, what are you gonna have?" since I was wearing a t-shirt with a giraffe on it. The name stuck with my college friends, and I've used it ever since.
No, I'm not particularly tall (5'9", about Pat Sajak's height).

I was an Armament electrician on the AH-64d with the US Army. When I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis I related the disease to a live wire..😃

This was inspired by another thread, which I just read, and unfortunately is dead (hey, I just rhymed!). Had to search for it, but I remember it ( just last year, in fact). I'd originally explained my username here, but then I saw that I was among those who explained their username in that thread. (A little OT side note: Yes, I still think 2000 was the first year of the current century/millennium since it was called "The Millennium Bug"; feel free to prove otherwise!) Trebek Jeopardy!, second episode (9/11/84), Final Jeopardy. Yes, that's regarding the 20th Century, but it still applies.

No interesting story here... my hair has always been my most distinguishing feature! Probably need to change to red-and-grey-haired-old-lady, but that doesn't roll off the tongue nearly as well (and redhaired_chick has been my hotmail account name forever....)

mad: My initials. My mom wishes she had given it more thought and named me something different, lol; but I like my name and the resulting initials. 2500: My badge number.

I joined this site way back in 2010. At the time, I was obsessed with the Super Mario franchise, and I wanted a username that had a nice verbal ring to it. My typical online username is RAS310 (RAS = my initials, 3/10 = my birthday), but I wanted to try something different, so I combined my love for the Mario series with my love for game shows - the "GS". I've kind of outgrown Mario, but I like my username, and it's still appropriate for me because "Mario" = "MAR 10" At the time, I was also very shy about going by my real name. Ever since I've been on Wheel, I've been thinking about changing my username, but I think I'll keep it because it's so familiar to everyone here. But hey, if anyone has any good suggestions for a new username for me, send me a message.

For me, it was random because I love game shows and 75 is the number of games that my idol and friend, Ken Jennings, played on JEOPARDY! back in 2004. Just glad that my username is not MisterBooYah.

Well, my last name is Gename, and no one (and I mean no one) pronounces it correctly. They pronounce it as JEH-nah-mee, geh-NAH-mee (sometimes geh-NAH-meh), or, on most occasions, JUH-naim instead of guh-NAIM. So I understand how Vanna feels considering her first name seems as easy to pronounce as (if not easier than) my last name.
Furthermore, there was one time in 2003 where my name was misspelled Gername and mispronounced as JER-naim. With that in mind, after finding out a couple years later that it was a unique German last name, I figured upon naming myself as germaname (with one N) when signing up at Yahoo in early 2006, but after finding out that the name was taken, I added an extra n. So, germanname.

But hey, if anyone has any good suggestions for a new username for me, send me a message. Who would outgrow Mario? Nobody ever outgrows Mario, especially now that you can play the classic games on the Wii (and maybe even the DS). I was assuming it's because Mario's your favorite character (everyone has a favorite), likewise, I am thinking WarioSajak's favorite character is pretty obvious. I don't have a favorite Mario character (I like 'em all), but my favorite game: All-Stars (yeah, I know it's a compilation, but it still counts as a game, does it not?).

likewise, I am thinking WarioSajak's favorite character is pretty obvious. And you'd be correct. I don't have a favorite Mario character (I like 'em all), but my favorite game: All-Stars (yeah, I know it's a compilation, but it still counts as a game, does it not?). I'd say so, given it's updated rereleases of the main-line NES (and FDS) Mario games. (I prefer All-Stars + World, myself.)
