I was thinking something similar. With EVERYONE knowing he would be taping, I feel like Robert would be under a lot more pressure (maybe?) to do well. Could have possibly affected his performance. (But really, who am I kidding). It wouldn't be the pressure that caused me to fail. It'd be the fact that I'm dumb and terrible at this game. Have you SEEN my DPG performance?

I have not! But really, it's just a big game of hangman. So, you don't really need to be an awesome puzzle solver to win. Just some luck sometimes.

Here's a custom-made cake we got. Unfortunately, even though I sent them the current R4 layout to use as the image on top, they didn't tell me until I went to pick it up that the image couldn't print because it had a transparent background. -_- So they searched "wheel of fortune wheel" on Google Images and used this. Such a shame because the rest of the cake was perfect. I didn't have time to go back home, send them a version with a white background, and have them redo it, so I just printed out the correct layout and took it off once I cut the cake. I started cutting from the outside in, and we never even got to the Wheel or the podiums. The Carnival wedge on top of the blue wedge ledge was my personal touch.

Robert, you were a total tour de force on this show. Congratulations!
(As an aside, it's really awesome to think that our little corner of the internet is fully known about by the actual show! Hi everyone at Stage 11!!)

intresting side note, was that the Sports Jeopardy (season one anyway) intro music before Jim's spiel?

I'm sorry if you feel offended that I didn't announce it. I'm not offended (trust me, it'd take a lot more to actually offend me). I was just confused. John [Lauderdale] tells me to introduce my guests from left to right: Dad, Mom, Emil. We rehearse my introductions of them, and I ask if I can refer to Emil as "Mr. New Baby Buggy himself", but the lawyer (I believe Elli was her name) has to ask Harry Friedman if that's okay, because they do not like time periods or moments from previous episodes being mentioned by contestants for some reason. She goes to ask him, and unfortunately, but understandably, it's a no. I knew Wheel didn't like to reference their past, but they don't even like referencing their recent past? Dafuq? John and I actually get to have a little chit-chat in the meantime before Pat comes back on stage. I ask him if he had been with Wheel since the very beginning, which he was. I told him that the Shopper's Bazaar pilot leaked online and I got to watch it. We agreed that it was hilarious. The prizes, the "Stop the Wheel!", the screaming ladies... And then we talk about the Edd Byrnes pilots, and John confirmed that he was indeed drunk. You know, that's probably what I'd talk to John about, too, if I got the chance. (That, and if he has any stories about the early years.) Then I ask [John] if he's heard of the Wheel fansite Buy a Vowel Boards and he said that he has! Hi, John! [...] Then I say [to Pat], "Have you heard of the Wheel fansite Buy a Vowel Boards?"... "Yes". Um...hi, Wheel staff. (I really don't know what else to say.) {picture of conversation indicating that Gary knows about this place too} My brain isn't at full capacity right now: what does Gary do, again? (No offense to you, man, if you're reading this; I really don't remember what your role is over there.) And I told [Pat] that I was so glad to do the site proud. And you did, Robert.

Gary O'Brien is the head contestant coordinator at Wheel, and has been with the show since I believe the late 80's. Definitely by 1990, both daytime and nighttime.

Here are some more pictures from my party. And a reaction video of the Bonus Round was posted by me on Wheel's Facebook page. Do you solve this, or eat off of it? Homemade Wheel my father and I made. He did the wood and nails, I did the wedges and podiums. Add some small folding tables and some color and you've got the full set! After the show, I hosted actual games of Wheel for real prizes, using the TV as the board via an HDMI cable from my laptop. Hopefully more pictures and videos of the games to come. I wish I had recorded them. Obviously, the rules took a lot of explaining and correcting, but everyone had a blast, especially our two winners who were actually very good contestant material and I really hope they seriously apply for the show. One of them even remembered to say she was married to her "wonderful husband" and they have "beautiful children".

^ WOW!!! How'd you get the custom tablecloth made? And how did your contestants spin the wheel? You didn't have them reach over those little wooden folding tables, did you?

^ Yes, I did. It wasn't any problem for them. The "tablecloth" is actually a collage of green posterboard and paper over plain blue tablecloths and underneath a clear one. There's also a "category strip" underneath that says Around the House. It took nine sheets of posterboard (eight for the main 48 "monitors" and another for the side ones) and I went through about four black markers.

According to the Wiki, these are all the known one-letter Toss-Up solves. I'd love to make a compilation video of them, but I can't find the first one online, and I'm sure there were a few more after that one we don't know about.

My brain isn't at full capacity right now: what does Gary do, again? (No offense to you, man, if you're reading this; I really don't remember what your role is over there.) Gary O'Brien is the head contestant coordinator at Wheel, and has been with the show since I believe the late 80's. Definitely by 1990, both daytime and nighttime. Officially on the site under the production credits, he has the title of "Producer" (I think the rolling credits at the end of the show list him as "Contestant Producer"). So I'm wondering if that's so they can say he can make the call as described in the contestant release when it says "Producer" has the discretion of deciding who does/doesn't play. If I could ever have a beer with him and pick his brain, one thing I would ask is what instances he's had to invoke that clause since the only obvious one's I can think of is if someone shows up on tape day too sick or drunk/high or look like they just got dressed in the dark in a torn shirt and shorts. I can't see them saying, "We've changed our mind, we're not going to put you on after all" just on a whim.

Sorry I'm late to the shower of accolades, Robert ( MarioGS), but I finally get to see an episode after countless weeks, and I didn't even know it was you who was showing everyone how to play this game with gusto! Man, I had to watch TU1 several times after being so impressed with that solve. Congrats on nabbing 2 cruises out of your appearance, too! I still have to read your unabridged account of your experience, but I wanted to acknowledge your episode and bow down to your supreme puzzle-solving ability! Congrats again!
