No new episode was scheduled for 11/8 in the end because of the wide preemption. The Tue-Fri shows were rescheduled one day behind. Sometimes stations will do this independently if there's a preemption in the area, but this is the first time where this was done for everyone. Some stations did still air Wheel on 11/8, but any that did aired the previous-season rerun instead and a new episode, originally made for Friday, was put in place of the rerun on Saturday (or Sunday; some stations aired them outside of the usual Saturday at 7/7:30 Eastern slot for whatever local reason, and I think Miami's affiliate always airs the reruns on Sunday afternoons). I wonder how Wheel will handle this in 2020. Maybe they'll just film five shows for that week's taping with show 5 as the America's Game show? In 2012, it was just "Oh, well. Hope your station airs it on a subchannel or overnight." but that week came early in the summer reruns at least, and hopefully they'll do that again with Veterans Week just for the sake of Brenda. |
