Hi all, I would love to see the video of my mom when she was on Wheel of Fortune in 1983 - I was 6 months old in a hotel nearby during the taping of the show. Tape date was: 5/21/83 My Dad accidentally taped over our only VHS copy years ago, but visiting her over Christmas, we found this: (Blacked out her social and personal info only) Is it gone forever or does it exist somewhere? I searched and found a 1983 WOF video on DailyMotion with "Karen" in the title and got so excited, but it wasn't the right Karen. Do you know who I could possibly contact to get the video? WOF producers? Sony Entertainment? King World Productions? GSN? I would be willing to pay to obtain a copy, whether it be online or a physical copy, for shipping, etc. Here's a pic of her nametag she wore - she still has some of the items listed in the pic like the Giorgio gift certificate, she kept as a keepsake rather than spending.

What a great story and pictures! That prize form is fascinating! Unfortunately, since the episode you're asking about is a daytime episode, it likely doesn't exist anymore, as most of the masters of the daytime version of the show through mid-1985 were wiped. I checked various game show tape trading collections and all I can find is an episode from the then-new nighttime version with a Karen, which is probably the one you saw online. Does Karen still keep in touch with either of the two contestants she played with?

I'm gonna agree with Robert (MarioGS) - I appreciate your sharing all this, and hopefully we can help. Still, if nothing else, you have some memories and keepsakes (the prize form, the nametag, and as you mentioned the Giorgio gift certificate among other items on that form). Do you know who I could possibly contact to get the video? WOF producers? Sony Entertainment? King World Productions? GSN? Wheel and Sony would be your best bets, I think. King World closed in 2007 and folded into CBS Television Distribution, which has distributed Wheel since. GSN is partly owned by Sony, but they've only ever aired three daytime episodes (and even then I suspect they just got copies from the Paley Center for Media). No matter what route you go, I suggest sending a scan of that prize form. Normally when asking a production company about a specific episode, having any of the episode number (#2142 if I'm reading the paper correctly), tapedate, or airdate would be an immense help to them; having all three makes it very likely that you'll be able to get a definitive yes or no from Wheel/Sony on whether it exists in their archives (I know there's a few pre-1985 episodes that exist as master copies, including one from early 1983, so it's not out of the realm of possibility). In any case, best of luck.

I'd say at this stage, anything regarding a show from the time when shows were wiped is quite a find, as we do know what some of the prizes are at least. Hopefully, the the OP, your mom had a family member or friend who taped the show for you since the odds of that episode turning up are literally like winning the multi-state lottery. It appears your mom likely won $500 for one round that contained a $300 BBQ, a $150 Bushnell telescope, and a $50 Giorgio gift certificate, and since the typewritten "lovely parting gifts" are also listed, didn't win the match. If anything, I'd wish for the team at Wheel to look for contestants from this time if they in fact still have their prize forms to display them which would go a long way in determining some of the big winners and prizes offered. Thanks for sharing!
