I got R2 with just T & E. I actually no-lettered the NATIONAL PARK part.
BR was tough. Needed H to have a shot.

^ I still got it with only G. G 3rd there kinda gave away HIGH-.
Shame a boardie had to get the most generic BR category choices so far, as well as a rare reverse trap H on T_E. This week in general was pretty damn weak.

Tony, I don't know how you stayed so calm throughout the entire episode. I was a nervous wreck when I filmed. You did amazing dude and it's such a pleasure to have met you during Halloween week.

Great job, Tony! You saw Pat at L.A. Kings games?! I'm jealous. I got TU1 just as fast as you did. Smart move sealing your win with a vowel in the Final Spin. I thought the Crossword puzzle contained EEL and ANGLER. But as soon as R2 was revealed, I knew the last two words due to the theme. Speaking of puzzle theming, it seems like not only most of the front game puzzle but also the Prize Puzzles have been themed. As well as tonight's BR. Veronica also did well for herself, but I kinda wish she asked R4 instead of shouted it. And poor Joanne. But the BR hurt. Too bad we got skunked, since the H would've actually helped in this case (rather than be a waste). My rating: 7 Weekly rating: 6 Enjoy your winnings, Tony! I think this week was mostly dull, BR-wise. Most of the BRs weren't that hard, I think our players just didn't pick the right letters. Hopefully, next week will be jolly.

One-lettered T1. Somehow had the Speed-Up after the L's came up.
The Bonus Round makes me reconsider modifying my YGHO choices based on the letters that are up there because of reverse traps, but that makes little sense since the only reason YGHO has a Y in it is because it was tweaked from PGHO.
Picking up vowels in R2 and R5 to solve was a smart move.
And Vanna, nothing is wrong with you!

You were great out there Tony. You played the game well and won despite some tough competition in Veronica. Unfortunate you ended up with a reverse trap puzzle, but there's nothing to feel bad about with your performance. You were as cool as a cucumber.
No lettered that first tossup, yay.
And how have Pat and Vanna never heard of an escape room before? They've become quite popular over the last few years and I thought they were hip enough to know about them, ah well.

Vanna is just saying she doesn't know as part of her banter with Pat, and so he doesn't get jealous of her knowledge...

I spy a null cycle at the start of Round 3. Go to 10:06... Joanne is about to land on either Free Play or just short of it on the blue $700, but ends up just two wedges short of the starting position. Despite this, Pat says, "That gets you started" on the first aired letter, and the only common dud is S and the only dud vowels are A and U, if she hit FP. Maybe, going by a theory from vowela not too long ago, they're editing out bad turns on Free Play now? Regardless, for Joanne to get to blue $600 with most of her spins being around 11 wedges counterclockwise, she would have had to start on Free Play, which would put Tony's arrow on the Bankrupt nearby, though Tony doesn't recall hitting any Bankrupts. Veronica's spins were around 7 wedges clockwise and Tony's were around 2. A three-turn null would put Tony's unaired spin closer to the $3500 starting position. So if there was a null, the only way the spins could add up is... Joanne: Dud on Free PlayJoanne: Dud on $600Veronica: Bankrupt on MDW or dud on $700Tony: Bankrupt or dud on $600

Thanks everyone! As to why I was not nervous, it is an incredible advantage to have been a standby contestant previously. I was able to participate in two rehearsals, two mock games… two of everything really, which very much relaxed my nerves so that by the time my show started, I was very much at ease, and I think that came through in my banter with Pat, and my game-playing. The blue player, Joanne, was very nervous. She was so worried that she was going to pass out, and told me she was feeling light-headed as the show started. She wound up managing OK though. I figured Veronica would be a strong player from our chats during the day. She was trying to psych me out prior to the show… “getting nervous?” “you’re going to be on national TV!” - it was all in good fun, but I think we both knew that we were going to be tough competition for each other, and honestly I was looking forward to the challenge. As much as luck is involved, I felt that my edge would be studying up previously, and having a good handle on my spin power. As the yellow player, I had two arrows to help me. The red arrow for where to grip start my spin, and the blue arrow for judging when to release. The trip wedge labeled “Great Outdoors” on the wheel was a Mississippi River cruise. It was almost $7,500. If I had won it, I would have forfeited the prize to avoid paying taxes on it. I’ve been along the Mississippi plenty of times growing up in Illinois. There isn’t anything along that river worth $7,500 to see. The Mystery Wedge. I knew that if I landed on it, I wanted to make it a surprise to me, and involve the audience. I also knew that I would need to flip the wedge around in order to be able to lift it up quickly and have it be facing the right direction, so when I landed on it, and decided to go for it, the screams from the audience told me all I needed to hear. I glanced at it just to confirm for myself. It was $10,000! The crowd for my episode was fantastic. They were loud and into it. I thanked them after the taping when Jim Thornton chatted with me in between show 5 and 6. The banter with Pat at the end of Round 2 was so much fun. He thought my remembering that someone at home would also win $10,000 was a riot, and while Jim was doing the plug, Pat said “when Jim is done I’m going to tell you to take us to commercial - would you be OK with doing that?” “No problem!” It was so much fun to ad-lib with Pat. I thanked him for letting me send us off to commercial. Such fun! HAWAII, HERE I COME! I could not believe I won a trip to the place I wanted to go the most! It was a total thrill to be able to introduce my family and friends on TV. My Mom was able to fly from Chicago to see the taping, and of course it was great to have Rob, Adam and David there as well. I’ve been best friends with David and Rob for 20+ years each, and Adam’s help prepping me for the auditions and test was what got me on the show. Adam flew in from Florida to see the taping, so I was glad to get to the bonus round so they could all have a cameo appearance David and Adam were both contestants on Wheel previously. I was introduced to the stage manager John Lauderdale, which was a real thrill for a game show geek like myself. John has been a staffer on Wheel of Fortune for over 44 years - since 1973! I remember seeing his name in the credits when I was watching Wheel as a kid growing up. It was great to meet someone who has been with a single show as long as John has. I joined Pat and Vanna on stage as the credits rolled, and they wanted to know all about escape rooms! Vanna was totally wanting to do one, so who knows, hopefully I'll see her at an escape room soon! Such an unforgettable experience.

Regardless, for Joanne to get to blue $600 with most of her spins being around 11 wedges counterclockwise, she would have had to start on Free Play ...I believe this is correct, although my memory is sketchy. Joanne's first spin must have been Free Play, she must have called a dud A, and then her 2nd spin was what aired. There were definitely not multiple dud letters called in a row, and the show was Bankrupt-free. Only the 2 lose-a-turns which aired.

^If I won a trip, I'd probably decline it as well. I'm not much of a traveler. Can you get cash value or if you decline it, you just get nothing?
When I was in Pigeon Forge, I noticed they have an escape room. I'm claustrophobic and can't stand being contained so they may not be for me. I'll stick with Dollywood!

I don't blame you at all for giving up that trip ESPECIALLY since you've been there so many times like you said, really nothing left to make it worth your while, or the tax hit LOL Did the contestant coordinators ask you to send them a postcard from Hawaii? They asked me to send them one from Hawaii and Nicaragua when my wife and I go LOL

^ It was somewhat of a blur. I could not remember all of the puzzles, mainly TU2, TU3, and round 4. I wasn't aware of all of the various wheel values I spun. I remember it feeling like it took 15 minutes, when it really took close to 40. As far as the nerves, the best advice I would have is that if you can go see a taping in person ahead of time, do so. It helps so much to get a feel for the set, even if you're just observing. As I said, the "standby service" helped a lot keeping my nerves calm, and it's not my first time being on a TV set before, so I was comfortable with the cameras and lights, etc. I am VERY much looking forward to Hawaii. I'll be sure to book a THRILLING HELICOPTER TOUR I'l be sure to send them a postcard.
