I'm feeling bored (and tired) right now. So, to occupy my time, for now, I will give you guys a recap from the second episode from season 14. I'm surprised nobody recapped this episode because THIS is not going to be a pretty one. Andy Nyguyen wrote 2 recaps of episodes from early season 25 that were quite ugly on his site, so I decided to recap an episode that was JUST as ugly as the two that he recapped.
Keep in mind that this was BEFORE the jackpot was introduced, which was introduced a couple weeks later.
"From the Sony Studios, it's America's Game! Wheeeeeel........ of Fortune! And now here are the stars of our show, Pat Sajak and Vanna White!"
And in all the while, the host says that he refreshed himself greatly before introducing the contestants.
Anyway, let's meet the contestants!
Danielle Demano: From Yorba Linda, California! Recent grad at Cal State Fullerton with a bachelor's in communication and would love to get into radio and television with all the education she amassed. She enjoys rollerblading, working out, and traveling.
Mike Hawkins: From Orem, Utah. Automotive dismantling technician (It's breaking cars at a junkyard). Loves to go skiing, fishing, and camping.
Chuck Dubuyan: From Aurora, Colorado. Sales tax auditor at the city of Inglewood, Colorado. Originally from Lafayette, Louisiana and lived there for 30 years. He moved to his current location 18 years ago. Occasionally plays golf.
The top dollar value for this round is $1,000 and we've added a Surprise to the wheel! And who could ever forget about the lovely Free Spin token? Here's the first puzzle.
Round 1: Phrase
_ _ _ / _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _
Since the show drew numbers backstage, Danielle will be our first spinner of this episode, and uncovers a single T worth $700, a single H worth $400, buys 2 Es, gets $2,000 more from 2 Rs, but then buys an A to cost her turn.
Mike also duds out with an S on $200.
Chuck also duds out with an L on the same space.
Danielle gets $500 from a single N, $900 from a single G, buys 2 Is and an O to clear out the vowels, and gets $500 more from a single D.
T H E / D R I _ I N G
_ O R _ E
Danielle then earns $4,000 from THE DRIVING FORCE.
Pre-Round 2 Scores:
Danielle: $4,000
Everyone Else: A single dud = No Money
Don't worry, there will be more options to get ahead in the next round, whether it be the $2,500 space, the $10,000 oreo wedge, or a trip to Disneyland where you could experience the Parade of Lights with a six-night stay at the (Then-New) Pacific Hotel nearby the park worth $3,611 (Labeled DISNEYLAND)! The SURPRISE is still on the wheel as well.

(The $10,000 wedge, is placed over the normal Bankrupt on this episode. Also, Vanna reveals two periods in the first word.)
Mike gets $900 from 2 Ns, but the LOSE A TURN stops him in his tracks.
Chuck uncovers an R worth $400, but duds with a B on the FREE SPIN.
Danielle uncovers a T worth $250, 2 Ls worth $200 each, buys an E, 3 Ss on the SURPRISE, buys 2 As, gets $400 from a single D, but then duds out with an H on $500. That bad move can cost her $550+.
Mike gets $1,000 from 2 Gs and $400 from 2 Ms.

G _ M N A S T S / E A R N

Mike then solves U.S. GYMNASTS EARN OLYMPIC GOLD for $2,300 (2 Y's Mike....).
Pre-Round 3 Scores:
Danielle: $4,000
Mike: $2,300
Chuck: He'll start the next round.
Starting this season, the returning champions rule is lifted for the Friday Finals. This element has been seen in select weeks before, but starting this season, it becomes a permanent thing. In general, the three highest-scoring players of the week get to compete again on Friday. Also, if the person wins the bonus round on Friday, he also gets a championship prize package as well. The prize? A deluxe barbecue and steaks from Omaha Steaks. This also includes a deluxe barbecue grill with a rotisserie and side-burner.
As usual, the $3,500 wedge is ready for action for Round 3.
Round 3: Things

(Vanna reveals an ampersand.)
In an attempt to cash in, Chuck calls an N on $250, but it backfires on him.
Danielle doesn't do any better with a BANKRUPT.
Mike gets 2 Rs worth $1,000, 2 Ls worth $1,800, buys an E, earns the same amount back with a T, 3 Ss worth $10,500, buys 3 As and an O, BUT THEN HITS THE BANKRUPT NEAR TDV TO GIVE UP $12,800 IN CASH. Ouch.
Chuck doesn't do any better with yet ANOTHER BANKRUPT (same space).
Danielle earns $800 with 2 Ps, $1,200 from 2 Cs, buys an I, gets $250 back with a single M, $800 from a K, but then hits the other BANKRUPT to give up $2,800. Even Pat is admitting that the wheel is very brutal towards the players now!
Mike uncovers a D worth $200, a B on the same space, but then hits yet ANOTHER BANKRUPT to give up significantly less money. That's five in one round.
Chuck uncovers a W on $200 and an H on $550. At this point, the vowel beeps sound.

Chuck FINALLY gets out of this mess by solving LIPSTICK MASCARA POWDER & BLUSH for his first $750. VERY ugly round.
Pre-Round 4 Scores:
Danielle: $4,000
Mike: $2,300
Chuck: $750
To boost everyone's low scores, the $5,000 space is ready for action in Round 4!
Round 4: Before & After

_ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _
Danielle instantly starts off with a BANKRUPT.
Mike gets $500 from an R, but duds with an N on the same space.
Chuck also duds with a T on $200.
The final spin bells sound as Danielle makes her move, which is finding 2 Ss on $700.

Pat spins the wheel one last time... ...and lands on$700 again.
Danielle: 3 Ls
Mike: 2 Fs
S _ L L _
F _ _ L _ _ F
_ R _ _ _ S
Mike gets through the SALLY FIELD OF DREAMS for $1,900 and the win by just $200 bucks!
End Totals:
Danielle: $4,000
Mike: $4,200
Chuck: $750
Total BANRUPT Trash: $16,000 ($2,800 from Danielle and $13,000 from Mike. Both in Round 3.)
Total Unclaimed Cash & Prizes: $4,450+ ($4,050+ ((($550 + Surprise (R2)) + $3,500 (R4)) from Danielle + $400 from Chuck (R2))
LOSE A TURN Hits: 1 (From Mike during R2)
BONUS ROUND:
After surviving a low-scoring match, here are some prizes that Mike could win in Bonus Land that could hopefully boost his score:
Trip to San Fransico with the Integra (around $25,000)
Trip to Santa Barbara with Acura coupe (over $27,000)
Trip to Carmel with Acura sedan (around $50,000)
Trip to Yosemite with the SUV (over $42,000)
"The cash" ($25,000)
Mike picks the H envelope and faces the final puzzle.
Thing:
_ _ _ _ _
RSTLNE Help:
_ _ _ N _
MCHA only adds the vowel
_ _ A N _
He guesses GLAND, GRAND, and mumbles at some other things. This puzzle ended in a vowel. The answer was PIANO.
Before Pat opens up the envelope, he notices that the audience is booing because of that puzzle!
So Mike loses the Carmel & Acura Sedan package and only gets $4,200 for the day. This would be somewhat of a miracle if he manages to make it to the Friday Finals!
Chat: The fresh tomatoes from Vanna's garden (it's at the studio during this section of the episode) and basil. Pat then pulls out a small bouquet of dried flowers for Vanna, which was "the best that he can do from his garden".
Keep in mind that this was BEFORE the jackpot was introduced, which was introduced a couple weeks later.
