Toss-Ups: The second one was kind of long, but no trouble to solve because of that. R1: Clori gets a lucky $2,500 spin and finds the double D towards the end of the round, plus she will carry a car tag forward. Not a bad total for just a few spins. R2: Clori now has a full car as she spins the second tag right away... and then a third tag! She duds, though, opening the door for Bobbi to hit the $3,500 for a double, but she duds and so does Betsy on the same wedge - Clori wins the Chevy Sonic with a tag to spare! R3: Clori gets in on the $3,500 action this round, and she also wins the gift tag and a trip to Aruba. All the money she's accumulated overshadows the fact that this puzzle is utter garbage - who reads by the pool? You'd get your book soaking wet with all the idiots who like to splash around. R4: Clori tops the $35,000 mark with that toss-up win, but the others have a comeback chance because Pat hit the $5,000 space! Unfortunately, a lot of the letters are vowels and most of the consonants singles, which makes it hard to build a big bank. But Betsy manages to solve for a very nice $24,000 and an impressive second-place score of $27,000... though Bobbi ends up with the Pity Thousand. Bonus: I got this with Clori's picks, but a P or U was needed for those of us not in the LFaT crowd. Too bad, no $35,000. Overall: Really good day for Clori and a decent one for Betsy, I'll give this a 7/10 to end the week, with 8 potential if we'd avoided some of the duds.

By far, the most expensive maingame on this road trip! Sorry Bobbi couldn't join in on the action. This is also the second Friday show in a row where the only car on offer this week was won (as well as having the highest maingame winner in a week).
Yeah, the Y may have been a waste, but considering how brutal the bonus puzzles have been, Clori had to take some sort of a chance.
Score: 7

Ah, there it is, a very solid maingame.
... Oh WTF, that isn't even close to a PHRASE, Harry, you contrived joker.

Nice "3/2" car win, was afraid it wouldn't get back to her after the dud. Tough BR (stumped me) that could've been made a WAYD by adding -ING to the first word.

Nice maingame tonight.
R1: Nice opening bank for Clori.
R2: Great 3 1/2 CAR win for Clori! She was lucky that trap of D didn't affect her that much.
R3: Poor Bobbi, this just wasn't her night.
R4: It's about time that we had a $6K Final Spin on this road trip and Nice of Betsy to end her night on a $27K payoff!
Bonus Round: I was able to get it w/ the RSTLNE. Too bad Clori had to waste both the Y and the O.
MY EP. RATING: 7 out of 10

A great maingame. Clori manages to get the 3/2 Car (Pat giving the extra half to "demolition derby champion" Bobbi was genius), and a $6K speed-up means Betsy gets to leave with a massive second-place all-cash total. Unfortunate that Bobbi couldn't get anything, though.
BR: I wouldn't say the Y was wasted; it eliminated BY as a possibility for the second word. But yeah, a tough puzzle, and a P would have helped immensely.

Longer BRs are fun IMO, but starting with a Z is hard to work with.
Thanks, Mario, for recapping for me.

Round 1 probably should've been Phrase. ZIP UP YOUR JACKET, Friedman -- you don't want to get tomatoes on your nice suit, now do you? A total of $44,600 cash was swiped from Harry's wallet tonight, well over twice as much as last night and the best total since May 6! Your optimal Bonus Round strategies for May 10, 2013:* Modern (2013): ...there's way too many consonants and vowels to give an actual, I'm-pretty-sure-you'll-win-with-this combo...but for the sake of an entry, I'll go with ZYJU(K) because hey, nobody's going to call those, right? * Classic (N/A): No such puzzles this week, ergo nothing here In the battle of CDMA versus BGHO (modern only), tonight's winner is CDMA with four letters versus BGHO's two and the "take a third option" FGHI's one.
