Decent winnings, blah gameplay. Not only did we have a Same Letter go uncalled (in a round that ended up only being worth $1,650), but a Wild Card chance at $900 declined by the player in third place.
Speaking of the Wild Card, it must've been stuck down really hard, as Renee actually moved the slab of wedges it was attached to in the process of pulling it up.
Also, I might argue for a pluralization of the R4 category - Quotations makes more sense given that two different people normally speak the two lines of that puzzle.

Thanks to the Millionaire Maker Sweepstakes segment, we were deprived any chance of a six-rd. maingame.
Adam's BR letter choices were logical enough to narrow it down to solve it immediately.
Score: 7

Nothing really interesting here, especially with another overconversative R1... except one thing - Pat actually had a great suggestion this time around for the WC. In fact, I think you have to use it and spin again for the other remaining double, at least, assuming you're not to get a lot in R5 as the 3rd player due up (and there ended up being only one multiple). I'm not sure why Renee decided to hold.
Also, did they seriously say they chose a millionaire in that sweepstakes randomly? Why did they even get Wheel nametags? That's just garbage.

After the S in Round 2, the spin that followed indicates an edit. Trisha's spin for the T definitely did not match up with the rest of her spins.

^ Bob Cisneros.
Anyone else notice that every shot of the red arrow was really crooked?

I don't know if it was crooked per se. It almost looked like they just panned the overhead over to the red arrow without rotating the shot.
TBH, if it was done on purpose, I kind of like the effect of not having every arrow shot being square-on.

Gameplay: ★★ Absolutely no excuse for Trisha not to call the Same Letter of four B's and solve for only $1,650. I don't really agree with all the frowning upon Renee for not using the WC. Yes, it was for $900, but the best multiples were only doubles, and there is always the small chance that she can make a comeback with a $6,000 Speed-Up (or maybe even a long $1,900 one; dang it, what a big gap. $1,000 and $1,500, Wheel--use them! ) and then the WC becomes useful for the BR. Puzzles: ★★ BR was an obscure Phrase but pretty easy for a BR. I had "...ASK YOUR MOTHER" with RSTLNE and spent several seconds trying to figure out the first word, and never considered "FATHER" as a possibility until the O's. R4 was the perfect opportunity for "Phrases" to finally appear. Yes, Phrase exists in plural form, but apparently was only used once in Season 17. From what I have seen, it is more than one phrase that goes with one another. I believe the example in the category list is "YOU WASH I'LL DRY" (contestants, feel free to correct me), though that's not really a good example, IMO. Tonight's R4 puzzle was a perfect candidate but because they didn't want to use any derivative of Phrase again in the maingame, we get Quotation instead. -_- Winnings: ★★★Excitement: ★★Other Comments:Anyone else notice that every shot of the red arrow was really crooked? I have noticed over the years that the red and blue shots became less tilted starting in either S29 or 30 (barring road shows). Compare a shot from a current episode to one from S26-28 and you'll see what I mean. The red shots in this episode looked just like those seasons. The yellow shots seemed a tad off to me, too. (This episode is on YouTube, actually. Took long enough into the season for someone to finally upload a full episode. ) After the S in Round 2, the spin that followed indicates an edit. Trisha's spin for the T definitely did not match up with the rest of her spins. Good observation, but I can't really calculate any sensible null cycle at that point (if I do come up with something, I'll post). Sometimes a spin can seem pretty off from others without any edits in between. IIRC, one round last season started with an average-strength male contestant spinning only 8 wedges, which showed in the overhead shot. Keep looking out for them, though, so that I'm not the only one that has to notice them, and thank you for finally joining this site, Mechamind, after all the contributions you've made to the Wiki and the WOF TV Tropes page. When Renee picked up the Wild Card, the only wedges that budged were the green $500, yellow $900, and red $700. This plus my own observations at the NYC tapings finally reveal the current cuts in the Wheel templates. It is no longer two even halves. That was gone since S27 at the latest thanks to Free Play. It is now four segments, two each spanning 2 and 10 wedges. The red $700 latches on to the edge of the yellow $900 and is removed for Express. I wish Pat would have acknowledged the broken $35K envelope. Needs to be careful how he holds it, I guess. Isn't Vanna usually more centered on those close-up shots of her clapping during BR win celebrations? It almost makes it seem like the cameraman panned a tad right on purpose so that the shot would show this... ...And for the record, I'd rather go thin. Final Rating: 5/10

Yes, it was for $900, but the best multiples were only doubles, and there is always the small chance that she can make a comeback with a $6,000 Speed-Up...and then the WC becomes useful for the BR. It's always an interesting conversation of how much the WC is actually "worth" in the BR. She was down by $5,799 at the time, but if she doesn't make it to the end then the WC is useless. Assuming that she needs the 6k Speed Up and everybody has an equal chance to win, Pat needs to hit the 5k (9.2% as of S29) and she needs to win the round (33%). Multiplying those, Renee has about a 3% chance of using the WC. If the WC is "worth" less than $60,000 in the BR, she should have taken the $1,800.

Unless Pat for some reason was referring to the Mystery Wedge Bankrupt when he said they would take any dollar amount (since it still had a $1,000 face value), only one other Bankrupt was shown on TV. It's been two days, so although I can remember some things for a while, I don't remember if that particular spin sounded anything like some of Hannah's spins from October 29. And thank you for the welcome!

Mario, you are right that PHRASES is a category offered in our category list, and that YOU WASH I'LL DRY is the example puzzle. The category list defines PHRASES as "two sayings or expressions commonly used together." I can see why KNOCK KNOCK WHO'S THERE? would make a good PHRASES puzzle: it's said in combination by two people.

Now confirmed. The edited-out cycle in Round 2 was a "non-null".

Oh, yes. You're right. 7:00 shows $1,250 when it should have been $1,500. Geez, how many "two null turns and a bad vowel" cycles are they going to cut this season? And this game didn't even run overtime. -_-

Fine end to the week. TUs: Good job to Adam getting the first 2; #2 could've very well been a Triple Stumper. As for #3, that should've been a Song Title and R4 would've been a Phrase. Adam's Intro: Adam must be a real fan of Dave Matthews Band. R1: Whoa Trisha - FOUR B's (the Same Letter) were remaining! AND that would've given you way more than $1,650. R2: Too bad Trisha couldn't win that Savannah trip. At least Renee has that Wild Card. R3: I don't think OF would've cut it Trisha. That 3rd word was most likely ON. And Adam, you may have left off some multiples, but you got the biggest of them (3 C's) and a nice amount to boot. R4: Aw man - everyone's leavin' out multiples (Renee in this case)! But she got a nice amount and was VERY WISE for not using her WC on $900. What was Pat thinking? R5: I was hoping for Adam to go for my favorite letter o/ W, but good job by him anyway! As for Trisha - her D dud proves she fizzled out... BR: Nice win there by Adam! It was an either-or situation, and Adam's picks led him to the right solution! Adam was pretty good tonight, so I'm giving this one a 7.5 out of 10 (thanks to Trisha's bad play). This whole week was all right, so I'm giving it a low 7. Well, that wraps up my recap-like comments on old S31 episodes...
