Airdate: Nov-Dec 1984 (After E.R./Casey/Stacey)
Look at this studio filled with glamorous and imaginative gifts! Fabulous merchandise including...
A $15,000 full-length mink coat
A $3,000 pair of diamond heart earrings
A one-week Paris vacation
Over $96,000 just waiting to be won on...
Wheel Of Fortune!
Today's contestants:
Laura Vartanian: Married, is an accountant
Bob Austin: Grandfather, likes playing sports and watching Wheel, Arlington, MA
Rochelle Armstrong: A home maker
The top-dollar value on the Wheel is $1,000. Try not to hit Bankrupt, or you will lose all your cash, but once you buy a prize, it's yours to keep. Here's our first puzzle!
Laura guesses GETTING TWO AND TWO TOGETHER.
Rochelle solves PUTTING TWO AND TWO TOGETHER.
A light at the end of the tunnel, where we find a Mini-T electric car (labeled MINI CAR) worth $6,375. You can get there in this round:
Laura solves RUSH-HOUR TRAFFIC.
Still unable to shed those pounds, but the wide-numbered $5,000 is on the loose regardless, and somebody could claim some from this puzzle:
Laura gets revenge by solving STEFANIE POWERS.
Thanks to Laura going for a bigger prize, we have time for another round!
Bob's repeated R was not acknowledged as a duplication, possibly due to it being slightly misheard as I.
DING DING! DING DING!
Of course, we can only go so fast. Now Pat must give the Wheel a Final Spin, with consonants worth...$500 a piece.
Rochelle: N (x2) ($1,600)
Rochelle guesses CORPUS TENNESSEE.
Laura: E (x5)
Bob: M (x2) ($2,300)
Bob is correct with MEMPHIS TENNESSEE.
BONUS ROUND:
Laura thinks we can put her together with this prize...
Dicker and Dicker full-length jasmine mink coat ($15,000). Vanna wears it throughout the segment.
The final puzzle is...
Like many others, it's RSTLNE (due to a bizarre chyron goof, the letter choices are shown before she calls them! I don't know what happened, as the source video is in sync.)
(I don't know if this is related, but the letters have trouble lighting up, and the dings don't sound properly.)
And she instantly solves LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE to keep the coat! She finishes with a nice even $23,000 in prizes!
Laura tries on the coat just before the end.
