This was a pretty solid episode. I enjoyed it for the season premiere.
I like the minor changes with not announcing the prize on the wheel unless it's won---hopefully this will save time for more game play.
The only puzzle I didn't solve before the contestants did was the 3rd toss-up.
Wow---they really must like WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE. They seem to use it quite a bit.

Like tlc38tlc38, T3 was the only puzzle I couldn't decode in time. The cosmetic changes are minor but pleasant. I like how the category strip "ripples" when a puzzle is solved. Not reading the Prize copy unless the Prize is won is also a good time-management issue. Had the BR from RSTLNE. This is a time where CDMA was actually a good choice, since BGHO would've actually left you high and dry.

Agreed tenpound with the time management. Also that was a good way to start off the season premiere with a good game and a BR win.

I also agree with everyone that reading the prize description in Round 1 after the win makes great sense... I didn't actually realize that they hadn't read it out until Alicia picked it up and I saw it was a safari!
Was happy to see both Chris & Alicia do very well. Was relieved for Chris that the wheel stopped at $3500 for her to get those Rs! And of course nice solve by Alicia in the BR... I enjoyed the premiere! Also thought that the Blue toss up logo looked sharp!

I particularly enjoyed the fact that Chris earned the "Wild" Card by calling a W and with "Wild" being the eventual word in the puzzle! I, too, had the BR with RSTLNE...just glad Alicia called the letters she did.

Tonight was a pretty good episode for a premiere. Did anyone notice that they used both the season 31 and season 32 intros at the beginning?

I like the minor changes with not announcing the prize on the wheel unless it's won---hopefully this will save time for more game play. While this is a big positive, the contestants potentially not knowing the ARP of the wedge is a bit of a disadvantage when making decisions in some very specific situations (admittedly, no one on stage is savvy enough to factor such data, but I feel like my point still stands). I also fail to see how Walmart, Sears, Disney, etc would be OK with no copy most of the time.

The less time spent on a Wheel Prize that is not won at all, the more time for money to be won later in the game. I think that's a smart move. I also fail to see how Walmart, Sears, Disney, etc would be OK with no copy most of the time. They'll probably edit in a plug if it's not won. Where they put it in, I don't know.

Not a bad little episode to start the season, complete with a Bonus Round win... even if it was the new minimum.
I would say that I'm one of the folks happy to see the prize copy removed from its normal pre-R1 spot, but I'm going to reserve judgment on that until we find out what happens if it's not won. If they still read the copy in full, it's not really been removed, only delayed, and won't give us any extra playing time.
It does also look weird to see only some of the changes currently in effect. The 1/2 Car tags are now off in R1, but we've yet to see the wedge value drops that we know are coming, so it does seem just a little bit off.
Regardless of that, it was a very decent show gameplay-wise. I wish Ashley hadn't had so much hard luck, but she still came away with $3,500 - nothing to sneeze at for sure. I don't really do ratings anymore, but this is definitely a "plus" episode to open the week and the season.

So nobody's going to point out that the Wild Card magnetically attracted a Bankrupt ASAP like it's known to do? OK, then.

Well, I'm glad everyone won something tonight; that's always a nice way to start off a new season. If only Ashley was able to win as much as the other two, especially considering she's from Naperville, which is not too far outside Chicago. Even so, I'm glad she solved a couple puzzles and won some cash. As for some of the season changes apart from what the Wheel will look like a few weeks from now... The intro: It's okay. At least we got to see other segments of that animation. Toss-Up graphics: My goodness, I can- NOT get over how beautiful that blue looks! --------------------------------------------------- Sorry for double-posting, but I can't edit my previous post. No problem. Taken care of. -ScottI forgot to mention the change to the Prize wedge which I find very beneficial. Not only does it remind me of how the Surprise wedge worked, which I obviously miss, but it also reminds me of a method that was no different on some Bob Goen episodes. I like how Pat describes the Prize's worth and no more, still giving the player incentive to solve the puzzle with it in hand. I also like how there's no need to describe the Prize unless it is won, which can add to the time it takes to play the game and increase the chances of everyone winning by even more, something that a couple agree with already, I notice. As for the category strip when the puzzle is solved, that's a nice little effect there.

This was a great premiere, in my opinion. Guess I'd better analyze it bit by bit. I'll start off with the changes: I like the new graphics for the Toss-Up and category wipes, and the Featured Prize plug change seems like a nice throwback and a good time-saver. I'm a little shocked but not surprised that we're starting the season with another all-female panel. Happened last season and twice the season before on the same theme week. Nice to see our first $3500, Featured Prize, and Express hits of the season, and all successful! And no one left the studio empty-handed. Considering she didn't have that much chances to play, $3,500 isn't so bad for Ashley. As for the Bonus Round, I thought the second word was REMAKE, but I got it with Alicia's picks. No surprise she got $33,000, but it's the big minimum, so I guess I'm OK with it. And boy, that was a LONG 1st Toss-Up. But having that Round 4 puzzle on the premiere looked odd to me. My rating: 8 And I never knew that bit about Art Garfunkel. Here's to a big season 33!

I had RECIPE w/ RSTLNE, but I doubt I would have gotten "YUMMY" without Alicia's picks, so good on her! Though, I would never pick CMDA in the bonus round. Making me rethink my whole letter-picking strategy for the BR if I'm lucky enough to get there. Good kick off to the season! While this is a big positive, the contestants potentially not knowing the ARP of the wedge is a bit of a disadvantage when making decisions in some very specific situations (admittedly, no one on stage is savvy enough to factor such data, but I feel like my point still stands). I don't remember who, but in someone's spinning story, I remember them writing that they were told what the featured prize would be on their show before taping. They could have also been told the ARP as well. And what specific situations do you speak of? I'm assuming it has to do with scoring? I'm wondering if you pick up a trip (or gift tag) if it's listed on your score monitor in the studio (or if the value is). Can any former contestants that picked up cardboard speak to this?

Also, they are getting a lot of flack on social media for the singular possessive "Teacher's Week." I have to agree. Didn't they use the same graphics last year? If so, wouldn't they have gotten the same criticism and addressed it? It's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things I guess, but you think someone would have noticed...

If so, wouldn't they have gotten the same criticism and addressed it? It's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things I guess, but you think someone would have noticed... Yes, they use the same graphic every year and they always get the same criticism. Pat has responded to it multiple times by saying that it's supposed to be a week for each individual teacher. It's no different than how we write "Mother's Day" and "Father's Day". OK, let's start with the good... They are indeed using the cloudy scoreboard texture gameplay, and it looks great. Simple, but it's less "distracting" than the Wheel texture which we can now say good riddance too. The logo bug has changed, too. It's just plain white and sometimes changes to say "America's Game". The shade of blue they used for the Toss-Up wipe looks nice, but I think I still prefer the pink because the blue kind of blends in with the Wheel's base. As everyone else has said, the change with the Prize copy is a very welcome time-saving maneuver. I really like how we just launch straight into R1 after TU2 now. I just want to say, though, that I did it like this in my games first! As I said before, nice to see the Pink Bankrupt Magnet live up to its name again, NOT. The audience energy level is hopeless at this point with still refusing to cheer after good spins, which was a tradition from the 70s all the way up through the late 2000s. It's not going to get any better, is it? -_- Very nice to see a Bonus Round win to start us off, especially after picking CDMA. I'm not much of a foodie so I really had no idea the second word was RECIPE. The puzzle reminded me of jmdarrall's bonus puzzle. It has begun...$33,000: 100%
