Rerun season means time for more thought-provoking questions.
What's an element that you've seen on a foreign version of Wheel that you'd wish the American producers would give a serious thought to bringing on the American show?

The Star Prize or Brad's Box is the only option that came into my mind, but I'd suggest renaming it to Pat's box. Besides, I don't think people would want to hear Pat ask trivia questions to see who gets to spin the wheel first.

In terms of game mechanics, nothing really comes to mind, but I like the color-changing puzzle border that the more recent French versions (among others, if I am not mistaken) have had.

Well, I'd say everything that they used that we haven't used! Nah, just kidding, but in all seriousness, that's a very good question. I'm even asking myself why I didn't think of asking that.
Denmark used a Double or Nothing sort of element while Colombia's elder version from the late nineties used a Double or Half wedge. Both were simple but genius and practical.
Germany had a Risk wedge that worked similar to the Daily Double on Wheel's sister show. Though I thought it was interesting, I don't know if it would be as practical to use on our version.
Philippines and France had a wedge (Power and Hold Up respectively) that allowed you to take an opponent's winnings, which I thought was also simple but genius and practical. In fact, it's one of those "Why didn't I think of that?" sort of things. This overseas element has been a fan favorite among American Wheel fans such as myself. If I was allowed to choose just one element to bring here to America (apart from the Half Car Tags and Million Dollar Wedge of course), this would be the one.

If I was allowed to choose just one element to bring here to America (apart from the Half Car Tags and Million Dollar Wedge of course), this would be the one. Spain has it too, called "Me Lo Quedo" (literally "I'll take it"). There, it actually makes sense to have, since the Gran Premio (which functions like the 1/2 Car tags) only has the two halves available for the whole game. I worry that if the American version brings it over, the 1/2 Car becomes way too easy to win when the tags are replenished after every round. Plus...what if the player you're robbing has the Million Dollar Wedge? Wouldn't that complicate an already-complicated mechanic? What they have that I wouldn't mind bringing over are their X2 and 1/2 wedges. Our wheel's gotten so stale as of late--these could help make things a little more interesting. Hell, the whole energy of Spain's show is something I wouldn't mind bringing over here.

You have a good point there, but with that said, how about it be limited to cash that one has accumulated? I was actually thinking about that kind of idea for a while now.

I agree about Me Lo Quedo. Could lead to some very surprising comebacks. As for the MDW, if one were to steal it, it would have the same effect as if they picked it up from the Wheel, meaning they must win the current round first things first (even if it's Round 4+ and it goes to Speed-Up after the wedge is transferred).
Some international versions make the Mystery Wedge cash spendable, although I think the only ones that do are the ones where the Mystery is not strictly Bankrupt or a set amount. Spain's version can have any amount as the Mystery, and Peru's version even had Lose a Turn as a possible outcome.
The 2008 Philippines version had an equivalent of the Bankrupt/$10,000/Bankrupt wedge as its top value and it was treated as spendable cash and not removed once claimed. However, it was not multiplied, but one could claim the cash on more than one spin. I always thought that'd be a fun way to revive the $10,000 wedge.
Some versions also place the audience behind the contestants instead of backdrops or a screen. That would be nice to see and it would give the audience a reason to be more energetic knowing they're on camera for practically the entire game.
Didn't Australia's version or some other international version implement Free Spin using a hybrid of its older and newer rules - it's affixed to the Wheel, but you must call a letter first to get it, and you can only have one at a time, but multiple players can have one. I prefer these rules compared to the US "one and done" token.

how about just the general attitude from the foreign versions vs the "we're primetime" feeling of the modern US one

Spain's version can have any amount as the Mystery The highest I've ever seen it go is 500 EUR--I think it can be anywhere from 100-500. These days, they usually tell the players the possibilities--there's always one bad (Bankrupt/Lose a Turn/Half), one cash, and one other choice (Free Spin/Todas Las Vocales/X2).

It might be in Germany where the limit was one Free Spin (from a shortened gameplay video where each podium had a flip-up token attached to it). As far as I can tell, Australia always allowed multiple Free Spins.

It was indeed Germany (at least in the Sat. 1 era—haven't watched enough of the later versions to be 100% sure it's true in later versions, too).

Something tells me "Le Caverne" wouldn't have been too out of place during the shopping days.
