That's sad. Then again, the set's been the same for over 10 years, so that's not really surprising.

I'm really looking forward to this season, already. This could be the season where I get to be a contestant (still hoping for that magical final audition invitation), not to mention that Wheel of Fortune will celebrate its 7000th episode near the end of this upcoming season. I'm also curious as to which members will be contestants this season, as well.
I wonder what the first themed week will be?

I wonder what the first themed week will be? Given what’s happened in past seasons, I wouldn’t be surprised if the premiere week had all teachers.

I would like to see another theme week, but then I would also not be surprised if teachers week happened again.

Just a reminder guys, keep the quality of discussion level high, especially given TPTB read these boards. I've already heard not so good things from people I trust to give me a straight, independent opinion about how things looks around here.
They continuously get above a 5.0 in ratings with a single run program. Yes, I wish we had some freshness with the writing and social media aspects given what we known is possible and exists. But that doesn't mean the product isn't successful in its current state of what it is. These concepts can be, and as of right now, remain mutually exclusive.

It is indeed Teacher's Week. And still no Wheel layout changes... (Express is added for the rehearsal games)

And according to their Instagram story, they of course, changed the bonus round minimum to $36,000.

These “changes” do not surprise me...and that’s okay! Why? Because this is still one of the most popular shows on television. For it to be going strong in to its 36th year is more than impressive, especially for a game show. They are obviously of the mentality of, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” And, it’s obviously working because here they are for another year! In a day and age where people are cutting the cord and relying on Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon for their TV viewing, for Wheel to keep as strong a rating as it has, it’s a testament to a good thing. (Even though I wish they would stream the show somewhere since I’ve had to cut the cable...) The die hard fans seem to be the only ones with complaints year after year because they get upset that they didn’t bring back an element retired 15 years ago. Newsflash, they had good reason for getting rid of it way back then, so they’re surely not bringing it back now. If the changes bother you that much, don’t watch it and shut up! It’s that simple.
Okay, I’m done now. Just a mini rant. Only because it didn’t used to be this bad when I was on the staff a few years ago. The negativity has just gotten worse and worse each season...

I really would like to see a set change, even though it is most likely not going to happen any time soon. It doesn't even have to be a big one. Something as simple as installing an arrow for Pat since the wheel already makes his section of the "video podiums" purple. Even if it's just used for speedup at least it would be something different. Then again...if there's no need for a change...don't bother.

I'd really like to see the category strips and the toss-up wipe change. The current category strip dates back to Season 26, despite they were given a "shiny" effect in Season 30 and then the ripple effect in Season 33 during puzzle solves. And the toss-up wipe has been there since Season 27 (only for Seasons 33 & 34 was it recolored blue). Perhaps they could use a different font for the category strips as well as the contestants' current scores that appear at the top of the screen (above the puzzle board) from the third round onward, and the category strips ought to be changed back to blue. Toss-up wipe ought to be in say dark blue and the dollar amounts in a different font, with a different animation and sound effect (I think it was Season 22 when the current toss-up wipe sound effect debuted).
Other changes I'd like to see:
- The prize puzzle occurring randomly either in rounds 1, 2, or 3 (like back in the 2000s) - Double play making a comeback - Surprise wedge in rounds 2 and 3 - Stupid answers category (answers would be previous and hilarious missolves like "a group of pill-pushers", "fish love", "popsicle bike", "more fun than a barrel of vikings", etc.)

The last time WoF had a major set overhaul was Season 21 (2003-2004) when the gold borders around the wheel and puzzle board were replaced with the current plexiglass and LED borders. And the set has undergone several revamps since, especially after the transition to HD:
- During the first season of the current set's run, the bonus wheel still had gold wedges, but the red letters were recolored blue. In mid-March of 2004, the first generic backdrop debuted, which lasted until the end of Season 27
- And then in Season 22, the bonus wheel was redone in LED colors to match the set - Season 24 was the first season in HD, staging area widened to accomodate the 16:9 aspect ratio, wedges recolored in more vivid hues, dollar amounts were given glittery borders - During Season 25, the puzzle board was revamped with flat-screen monitors, contestant scores changed to plasma displays, first season to use starry background on the generic set on certain episodes - Season 26, the bonus wheel was reworded as "SPIN & WIN AMERICA'S GAME" to accommodate the million-dollar bonus round - Contestant railing was redone in LED strips and plexiglass in Season 27 - Current generic backdrop debuted in Season 28 - Season 30, a fourth monitor was added where Pat stands, and the contestant scoreboards were widened, touching each other for the first time since Season 24 - During Season 31, the bonus wheel wedges were changed to light blue, dark blue, and purple, and the lettering was changed to yellow; envelopes are now straight rather than slanted upwards
I too was kind of anticipating another set change, in particular a major overhaul, because of how long the current one has been in use. And we also had the music refresh January of last year.

And the logo is just the same as Season 35’s, only they removed “35th anniversary”. Why can’t they just get new graphics packages every year like Jeopardy?

And the logo is just the same as Season 35’s, only they removed “35th anniversary”. And you'd think they'd recenter the "Wheel of Fortune" logotype accordingly xD That said, that's LITERALLY my only gripe about the logo. Come to think of the set being the same for a very long time (albeit with revamps), when's the last time the stage layout has changed? The late '90s or so?

Wheel used to change its title card every year until they revived the Sony Pictures Studio intro. And I thought they would get new graphics this upcoming season now that they retired the SP intro. Guess they won't be getting new category strips or a new toss-up wipe. Elements from Season 26 are here to stay.

I am aware of such minor changes with 2003 being the last real change apart from more ways to endorse neon eyesores since. If they could tone the neon down a bit it wouldn't be so bad. Maybe just get a more metalic look again. I really don't get the the gameshow biz' obsession with neon these days. It's not so bad on Price but Wheel overdoes it.
