I want to start off by saying being a contestant on Wheel of Fortune was the most exciting thing I have ever done! I pinch myself just thinking about it! I want to share with you my experience...
I grew up watching Wheel. Our nightly ritual consisted of dinner, dishes, Wheel of Fortune. It was a dream of mine to be a contestant. I even went to a couple of Wheelmobile events with no luck. So I submitted an online application in August 2017. I figured I would hear from them when a Wheelmobile event was close to me. Fast forward to February 14, 2018. I check my email and received a messsge from Wheel asking me to RSVP for a private audition on March 1st!!! Oh my word. The audition was held at the Marriott in Little Rock, Ar. I got there an hour early, made sure I was loud, clapped and cheered for other would be contestants, and was READY for my turn when they called on me. I made sure and listened to advice from the contestant coordinators. I solved my puzzle from start to finish, took the written test, and was not asked to stay for the second round of auditions. There were about 60 other people in the audition with me. They told us we would hear something in about 2 weeks. IT TOOK 19 DAYS FOR ME TO GET MY LETTER! The longest 19 days of my life lol!
I got my tape date on August 6, 2018 to be taped in Culver City on August 24, 2018. My husband and I flew out the day before and had a mini vacation. The day of the taping they sent a Mercedes Benz van to pick us up. We got to Sony Pictures Studio around 7:45 am. As we were filling out paperwork Vanna came in an wishes us luck. The contestant coordinators were AMAZING! They really coached us up and prepared us for our taping. We practiced spinning the wheel, which was super heavy, calling out letters, went over our Pat Chat, did our hometown howdy, etc. Pat Sajak was super nice and was very genuine! I was not nervous at all when it was my turn to tape and even though I did not make it to the bonus round, I did solve 3 puzzles and had the experience of a lifetime!!!!!
