A house in a 55+ community. Way to reinforce the stereotype by making a sweepstakes for a prize that a large portion of viewers can’t even claim for themselves...

FAQ's say that those under 55 can still win a townhome in the Festival community in Davenport, FL or receive $150,000 cash.

Just signed up for a SPIN ID. Personally, I'd take the cash - there's a lot I could do for my family with $150,000 even after Uncle Sam gets his cut (pay my monthly bills well in advance, wipe my mother's medical bills out, then put the rest in my bank account), and there's no way I could take care of a $350,000 house with what little money my family has to work with each month. There's also some $500 Margaritaville gift cards on offer. Too bad the closest "we accept these" location to me is in Fort Lauderdale... FAQ's say that those under 55 can still win a townhome in the Festival community in Davenport, FL or receive $150,000 cash. Any winners can take the $150,000, not just the under-55s. The official rules seem to indicate that the townhome is an alternative prize for the 55-or-olders as well.

The game show that is offering this house prize is the game show on which a fair amount of players decide not to take the $5K-$10K prize puzzle trips to avoid paying the taxes on it. At least they're offering a cash alternative to the winner of the house, which is pretty likely to be what the winner takes.

I know it's beside the point, but Prize Puzzle trips are never below $6K anymore, and many, many of them now exceed $10K even on solo-player episodes.

I was just reading the official rules to see about the timing of the drawing, and I stumbled upon this weird clause:
"If a Canadian entrant is randomly selected as a potential prize winner, he/she must answer correctly within a specified time a mathematical skill-testing question without the benefit of any mechanical calculating devices. The test will be administered by the Sweepstakes Administrator at a pre-arranged mutually-convenient time, and only if the question is answered correctly in the allotted time period will the Canadian entrant become a potential prize winner. If the question is not correctly answered in the allotted time period, prize will be forfeited and will be awarded to an alternate prize winner."
Any idea why this would be a stipulation? It seems incredibly random.

That is a funny loophole. Until someone dumb actually can't do that math and loses.

The skill testing questions I've been exposed to have been even simpler than the Wired example.

This is another example of why people love JEOPARDY! more than Wheel Of Fortune nowadays.
