Pat Sajak, Vanna White and of course Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek has signed a new deal to host their shows through the 2021-2022 season.
I hope Pat and Vanna would sign another deal to make it to their 40th anniversary in the 2022-2023 season.

This was announced today, on the 12th anniversary of Barker announcing his retirement from TPIR. At this point, Sajak has hosted WOF for roughly one year longer(35 years and ten months) than Barker(34 years and nine months) hosted TPIR. Alex will tie Barker's longevity for second place at the end of the current Jeopardy! season. Alex will have just turned 82 when the last shows of the 2021-22 season of J! air in late July 2018. Barker was 83 and a half when he taped his last TPIR in June 2007. Sajak will be 75 at the end of the 2021-22, Vanna will be 65. JOhnny Gilbert will be 98 in Summer 2022.

I'm afraid this is just delaying the inevitable. Just take a look at the ages everybody will be by the time this is all over. Alex especially - Jeopardy! is so demanding it's foolish to think that he's not going to lose a step.
There will be changes at some point. There will be new hosts. There might be a new producer. The shows will need to reinvent themselves.
I just thought it made since to do it sooner rather than later.

^ I get your point, but I'm so used to Pat Sajak that he's known to me as an icon.
