Hello, everyone. This is acwof. It has come to my attention that some of you were going over the top regarding Friday's (January 11, 2019) $1M loss episode, as WooWho had to lock the thread. (Thank you, by the way, WooWho , for bringing some hospitality into the discussion.) I've also read the comments, and frankly, I was upset as to how some of you were handling what happened on the episode. Please keep in mind that not only do I post recaps of Wheel Of Fortune episodes every weekday (except for summer reruns, of course), but I also moderate the "Tonight on WOF" section, as well, which is where recaps are posted. This means that I read every single comment that is posted within each of the threads, and I have the right to delete any comments that I find offensive, irrelevant to the episode the thread is about, etc., which I have done so, in the past. Next time we have an episode like Friday's (January 11, 2019), or any episode where something out of the ordinary happens like a low-scoring main game or a bunch of puzzle mis-solves, I absolutely DO NOT want to see comments such as, "ZOMG WORST EPISODE EVER!!!", "JANUARY IS CURSED!", etc. Any comments like that WILL be removed, no exceptions. It's just a game, for crying out loud! Events like Friday's (January 11, 2019) episode are bound to happen, but regardless, life goes on, and we just need to accept what happened.
I love Wheel of Fortune as much as you all do, but this going over the top malarkey has got to STOP. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility, and I hope you all continue to enjoy the recaps. - acwof

I guess the lesson here is that we do need to act like civilized adults and accept what happened instead of being spoiled brats who would throw tantrums over an episode that does turn out bad winnings-wise.

acwof I agree with you on this. Game shows are meant to have winners and losers. Besides, if everybody keeps winning, it would be too boring and that would be the same if everybody keeps losing. I may not have been happy with not winning my game, but I am content with the fact that I got to keep all of my cash after finishing in second place and the fact that I got to play the game, have fun, and even interact with Pat. Also, television shows are a business, so they do need to make some challenges like tough clues for JEOPARDY!, hard bonus puzzles for Wheel Of Fortune, and all sorts of obstacles for every program. To me, life is like the Mystery wedge. Sometimes, you scream in agony by finding a BANKRUPT, and sometimes, you shout, "Booyah!" at the top of your lungs by finding the $10,000 cash prize, especially if you solve the puzzle correctly and win it.

If it's an episode that I really hate, I'll plan to avoid the boards to avoid rant territory.

I, too, would like to apologize for going overboard on Friday night. It capped off a bad day in general for me. I am very much aware that I have an unhealthy devotion to Wheel and it is taking a toll on my mental health. That is why I get very bent out of shape when Wheel is put in a negative light with a bad loss, losing streaks, low winning totals, dated and repetitive puzzle writing, unfair pre-emptions by local stations, or getting overshadowed by Jeopardy! I want it to be successful, and I have to keep reminding myself that it still is, even if the show is not being produced the same way that it once was and is now on the losing end of its "friendly rivalry" with Jeopardy!
I had already been watching the show sparingly up to this point, but now I choose to no longer watch the show proper. I have also cancelled a couple of Wheel-related projects I had been planning (including a comeback in Stage 11 3/4, maybe someday but not anytime soon). There are other things to life besides Wheel of Fortune, but my brain keeps trying to convince me otherwise.
Should I ever comment on recap threads in the future, I will be sure to always choose my words carefully even if it's in the heat of a moment of rage. "Cursed" was a poor choice of words on my part, and I will avoid making assumptions of the worst based on what I haven't watched. I do not plan to completely erase Wheel from my life. I will still be very much involved with the Wheel community by supporting and helping new and upcoming contestants, and continuing to keep fans up to date with the latest show news, episode announcements, and more.
It really says a lot when a recap thread had to be locked for the first time ever, and what will hopefully be the last time.
