Here's my re-imagined Mystery wedge. Very similar to the one used today, just took some liberties and dressed it up a bit!

I love the circles and the question mark. They look like they're popping out of the screen at me autostereoscopic 3D style! Nice job on all that!

Thanks guys! I've been testing out my graphic design skills on some WOF wedges for sure. MarioGS and wheelgenius have some absolutely amazing skills being able to create/re-create everything they have (and continue to do)--definitely riding off those coattails a bit. Next up: I'm mildly obsessed with the Surprise wedge.. I'll admit it. I think it's one of the more fun designs and I was sad when it left Wheel. Here's my take on what I think a modern Surprise wedge would look like!

That was one of the reasons why I also love and miss the Surprise wedge - its fun look. Another was the simply the fun of the unknown. Ultimately, it was an element that you simply cannot talk about without mentioning the word fun. And again, even with the thumbnail, I can see the letters popping out the same way as with the Mystery Wedge, making your take on the Surprise wedge looking even more fun.

Hey paranoia, big fan of your wheel model. In fact yours was the one that took me from the (years-long) state of "one day, i'll build a wheel" to actually working on one. So I'm glad you're sharing these wedges with us. It's got some alignment issues and a noticeable seam, but I hope I've done your mystery wedge justice, sparkles and all:

It's got some alignment issues and a noticeable seam, but I hope I've done your mystery wedge justice, sparkles and all: This is stunning, I absolutely love it!! How did you handle the sparkles for your wedge? I used a holographic cardstock and a scan n cut machine; interested to hear in your method for sure!

Glad you like it! Hope this isn't too wordy: I have a Cricut, and while I have no experience with the Scan n Cut, it should be similar enough to use the same technique - in fact may be a bit more advantageous. So I use a 12" holographic sparkly cardstock as the base too, spray-mount those onto a plain 12" cardstock for stability, and cut out wedge shapes. I also had blue and purple glitter vinyl (StyleTech brand) as well as black and white, and finally an inkjet-printable vinyl. I remade the wedge in Photoshop so I would have layers- I'm assuming since you made it you'd have layers already. Cricut has a feature called Print and Cut but it's super fiddly (this is where I think the Scan n Cut would be more user friendly). This is what I printed out: The print/cut area for this feature is arbitrarily small and sending the print job to my printer directly from the Cricut made it look horrible so I had to feed Cricut a single color version with transparency where I wanted the cardstock to show through and "trick" the cricut by lining the color version up in Photoshop and printing it from there... Very fiddly. Anyway, might be easier on your machine. Cut, weeded, and applied the two halves directly to the sparkly holo cardstock. From there, it's straightforward. Just the circles of glitter vinyl and the glossy black and matte white I had for the numbering and question mark. I think I can fix the seam by adding a bit of bleed on the printed vinyl.
