Alex started receiving chemotherapy the beginning of this month, and he's felt less energetic than normal. I wonder if he'll make it to when tapings for Season 36 begin.

^ I’m a bit worried about this. Sony ought to look for an interim host for Season 36, maybe using Pat Sajak, then find a new permanent host from Season 37 onward. My guess is if Alex were to make it through the summer months, he'd only tape the first few months of next season, and Sony would find an interim host.

Listings show it will be airing May 6-17. A Teen Tournament is also listed from June 17-28. The only time that two teen tournaments were held in the same season occurred in Season 23. But apparently, this will be the second occurrence of having two teen tournaments in the same season. It's likely they'll call it the Teen Tournament Summer Games again. Are they not doing the College Championship this season?

No College tourney this season, and no regular TofC this season either. Perhaps the All-Star Games had something to do with one of them not happening. There would likely be a regular TofC in November 2019, as its will have been two years at that point since the last one. But with Holzhauer's record breaking run and Alex's health, who knows.

The All-Star games were why there wasn't a ToC this season, but I'm sure there will be one next season; James will definitely participate in it assuming his streak will end before this season ends.

Sorry to bump this, but Alex had stopped chemotherapy but has to do it again now. It was doing well before. I am worried for Alex. I really want him to keep hosting because Jeopardy will be weird without him. This was on GMA. And it was for Filiming the Season 36 ToC.

Sadly, it appears Alex is taking a turn for the worse and may not even make it to the end of the season. In a recent interview with CTV, he says that taping is becoming difficult and that his ability to host the show is diminishing... Seriously, fuck cancer.

Sad to hear he may have to quit hosting. Somebody may have to fill in the next tape day. I wonder how many unaired episodes there are. Those could be the last ever Alex Trebek episodes

I am deeply saddened by this news.
And yes, f*** cancer. Why does it need to exist if it takes people’s lives away?

A secondhand report posted on JBoard today shows that things are not getting any better for Alex. They were at the October 23 tapings for two shows that will air on a Thursday and Friday in January. Because of Alex's health, they are now taping less shows a day. He can no longer handle doing five, so they now do three in one day, and the week's remaining two the next day. Alex has finished his latest round of chemo and has stopped immunotherapy because "it wasn't working", but he will soon be taking two weeks off for tests. He also injured a rib from a fall recently, and they had to stop tape when he had a coughing fit. He also had to re-record several clue readings.

...
I have no words, other than hoping this is just just a temporary setback for Alex.
(Well, that and "f*ck cancer", but I think everybody knows the latter by now.)

This is great to hear! Especially since he said the one-year survival rate for this type of cancer is just 18%. Stay strong, Alex!

Finally! Glad he’s better! Your "better" is a little ambiguous here, so apologies if I'm misinterpreting. If you mean "doing a little better overall" then I totally agree, I'm glad he is on an upswing too. If you mean "better" as in all better or cured, the really insidious thing about cancer is that good turns of health, successful chemotherapy, and even remission rarely mean it's gone forever. Again, don't want to be a downer, just wasn't sure given your phrasing.
