Hosted a family game night this past Sunday, had a blast! The TV makes the wheel look small; I guess I'll just have to make a bigger wheel.
The game software is controlled by the host on the Dell touchscreen you see to the right of the picture along with a keyboard. Puzzle board tiles load onto the screen exactly like the show (left to right, top to bottom in each column), and light up blue in the same direction as the show when letter(s) in the puzzle are present (right to left, top to bottom in each column).
Scores are calculated automatically in a few ways, but basically you input the wedge value after a letter is guessed, and it automatically multiplies that value by the # of letters in the puzzle. Manual adjustments to the score can also be handled (ex. when a prize is won, etc.). When a puzzle is solved, the money is banked below the round cash totals.
The Surprise wedge gift, what car you win if the 2 half car tags are won, as well as the prize puzzle gift is 100% randomized by the code. The $100k and $1 Million bonus round envelopes are also randomized, but are a 1 in 24 chance just like on the show.
The Vault amount starts at $10k and automatically goes up by any money that is bankrupted during the first 4 rounds by any player. If won, it resets back to $10k and starts accumulating again.
During the Jackpot round, the Jackpot value starts at $5k and automatically increases by the wedge value multiplied by the number of letters that appear in the puzzle, so it's a little different from the show which only used to calculate the individual single wedge amount landed on.
We use $5k in the Express round because I think it just makes more sense; plus the silver top dollar wedge looks amazing with the Express wedge animating on the wheel at the same time.
The Free Play and Express wedges are electronic, run off a 9V battery, and animate almost exactly like they do on the show! I'll get more pictures/video together of some of this stuff in action. I also plan to make an electronic Jackpot wedge!
Note: As I don't own the rights to WOF and support the show's efforts 100%, this software cannot be shared.
