Good luck, I got my chance last year in Denver & made it to the show. My advice if you want it: arrive early so you can be in front, be engaged no matter what is happening, clap for everyone, including yourself. Do what the coordinators say, they know their stuff & they want people who will take directions. If they tell you to buy a Vowel, buy a Vowel. It surprised me how many people didn’t do what they had told them 2 minutes before. Be enthusiastic for everyone! Have a 30 second speech about yourself ready in case you stay for the 2nd part. Most importantly, have a blast.

Hi, I’ll be attending a final audition in Des Moines, IA on Tuesday. I attended a Wheelmobile event in Osceola, IA on 4/28 (name drawn and was on stage) and got my audition email on 5/2. Anyone else on here that will be there this Tuesday 5/14? I’m super excited, and have learned a ton by reading threads on here. Thank you for all of the great info! Wish me luck! You got SO lucky that day! I was there, along with the rest of the world, it seemed Have a really fun time tomorrow, enjoy the whole thing as it's pretty much once in a lifetime. Having been through it, I can tell you it's a fun, but tough process. #1 advice? SMILE from the minute you get out of your car until the minute you're back in it. They want to see enthusiasm, personality and someone having fun--qualities that were SORELY lacking in most people seen on stage in Osceola. I'm still shaking my head about those two days! Play smart and have fun through it all. Come back and give us a recap when you can. Good luck

There is probably a passing score, but being telegenic and charming and whatever are more important to the WOF team than playing skills might be, even more so than on Jeopardy!

I was at the Des Moines final audition as well. This was the second time in 5 years I was called back for a final audition. Unfortunately, 5 years ago I did not get the letter to appear on the show. Super disappointing! I auditioned this time with my sister and we solved our puzzle during the first portion of the audition. We won a WOF hat and signed photo of Pat Sajak for our solve! After the written test, which we think we both solved around half of the puzzles, we were both asked to stay to play another round. I have to say the written test proved more challenging for me this time around as I think I solved 11 or 12 puzzles 5 years ago. In the final portion of the audition we solved 1 of the 2 puzzles we played in. Such an awesome experience, especially this time getting the chance to audition with my sister! We both felt the audition went as good as could be expected and loved every minute. Please keep us posted if you get the letter to appear on the show! The wait to get the letter is going to be excruciating! I wouldn't be surprised if it took longer than 2 weeks with the Memorial Day Holiday likely to slow down mail delivery. I won't lose hope until 3 weeks have passed! Good luck!!!

Unfortunately it’s been over 3 weeks and my sister and I haven’t received a letter. Anybody receive a letter yet? I don’t want to give up hope but I’m starting to think it wasn’t meant to be this time.

My wife and I auditioned as well and haven't received ours yet either... Wonder if anyone from the Des Moines audition has? I'm going to go out on a limb and say that not a lot of people are going to get that letter. Why do I say this? Because I attended both Wheelmobile sessions, all except the very last one on that Monday night. It was, to say mildly a CLUSTER, one of the most mind-numbing experiences. I'm a veteran of 4 Wheelmobile events, and holy Toledo, was I blown away. (Not in a good way).
I don't say this to be snotty or snippy, please don't take it that way. BUT, the caliber of potential contestants was staggering. As in a, I want to rip my hair out, bash my head and then gouge my eyeballs out way. Based on what we witnessed on that stage, my husband and I kept trying to figure out WHO, if anyone, would really be notified for a second audition. Mayyybeeeeee a handful deserved to go. Remember these choice moments? The 20-something guy who did nothing but play video games, seemingly had no job, mumbled when he talked and looked like he could care less about being up there. And then ironically enough, his grandma gets called up some rounds later and seriously is no better. Fun fact: we saw them the next day at the casino buffet at breakfast, and I overheard her speaking to a cashier, recounting the experience. She concluded it with a "We're hoping!" in a growly, smoker voiced way. I'm going out on a limb here, (sarcasm!), but I would bet everything I had that they were not at the second audition. DISCLAIMER: I am not trying to make fun of any disabilities here (just attempting to give my honest analysis), but do you recall the lady with the severe Down's Syndrome who got her name called? To be blunt, she did not know where she was, let alone how to play the game. Sitting in the front row, you could actually SEE a mixture of emotions come over Marty's face for the briefest of seconds as he turned to the side---none of them good. How about the lady who literally said that she didn't know what to say, she was so scared and nervous. Yeah, good luck, the Wheel powers-that-be are FOR SURE going to put her on national tv. The number of folks who were retired, and liked to travel---fine if you say those things, but follow it up with WHAT you retired from and WHERE you like to travel.
The things I saw up there cannot be unseen. I always wonder what Marty and crew truly think and say behind the scenes; he should write a book, as I would DEFINITELY read that sucker. I'm presuming you were at least coherent and able to talk in front of a crowd, hopefully had something interesting to say, etc. Congratulations on getting that second audition. Hopefully you really brought it that day and were unique/stood out to the coordinators. I would say if you don't get that letter by the end of next week, it's not meant to be this time. I auditioned on April 19, and the letter came May 1st, the year I was on. But don't lose hope. My husband is a PHENOMENAL player with personality to rival Marty's, who would've had that ballroom audience literally dancing with him, if he had gotten his name called. Alas, he didn't, and I did go through a thing where I was really disappointed for him. But we aren't giving up, for sure. All I can say is try, try again if you're able to----having made it and played it, it's a once in a lifetime thing. You will make it someday

No offense taken! Luckily, the group at the final audition had plenty of worthy people, in my opinion. They must have done a good job selecting the standouts from the Wheelmobile event and pulling in some additional online applications to round things out. I'd be shocked if they determined no one from the final audition was good enough to go on the show. At this point, even if my wife and I don't get a letter, it'd just be nice to hear that someone from Des Moines did so I can stop dreaming at work and get back to being productive

It took over 4 weeks for mine when I had my final audition! Don't totally give up hope yet! Sometimes it just takes them a while haha. And if you don't get it, you can always try again
