Anyways after watching last night's episode, I thought to myself "TPTB could've had Alex Trebek sub for Pat instead of having Vanna hosting"; but more likely than not he has been busy taping Jeopardy! and couldn't fill in. Cool as it would be to see Alex on the Wheel set again, I can't help but think he must have his time and energy pretty well spoken for between maintaining his post on J! and battling cancer. |

I guess Girlfriend Getaways will be our first (and hopefully not our only) team week of the season.

Today's episode was taped the same day as the upcoming Collette British Landscapes week, Pat's first taping day after his surgery. Despite this, the episode will still begin with Pat explaining that the show was taped before his surgery. This will in fact be the first aired episode taped after it.  |

^ To be fair, many fans outside of this site are confused enough as it is. If they acknowledged today's episode as Pat's official return, it would have look downright bizarre to have him gone again just one episode later. It was easier to just hold off the official announcement until the 13th. Besides, that day's episode should be Pat's first taped episode since returning as well. (EDIT: Never mind, it's not. 1/20 is his first taped episode after returning.)

Looking back at this slate from last Friday, the fact that last week was numbered 7101-05 instead of 7096-7100 means that the week of reruns were included in the official episode count, rather than being numbered 6901-05RR. That's annoying. Now we have a five-episode discrepancy in the "official" count, so there's no telling whether future episode milestones will be accurately mentioned. Although Jeopardy! has a 65-episode discrepancy in its count and they're fully aware of it since their 8,000th show was acknowledged on show #8065. This also means it is now unclear as to whether we will get an "extra" week at the end of the season, or if this season will only be 190 unique episodes, which would mean the first season in syndicated Wheel history that is not the standard 195. |
