I remember this episode just from the yellow team's choice of outfits.
As I stated in the recap thread of this episode, WABC New York lost J! that day and Wheel started a bit delayed with shorter commercial breaks. I can't remember if network news coverage officially ended at 7:30 Eastern or if it was one of those "news continues but affiliates may opt to switch to regular programming" situations.
A torrent of the episode also went online from a user name vader85, who recorded most airings of Wheel from about 2013-16 off WKRN Nashville, suggesting that station aired the episode as well, whether at its normal time or overnight. His copies would often get re-posted on YouTube and/or DailyMotion.
Searching Twitter for Wheel-related posts that night (and brushing aside all the "i'm such an old lady for watching wheel of fortune lol" and "lol jeopardy is a million times better" stuff) also shows...
* WLS Chicago pre-empted General Hospital and Jeopardy! in their afternoon lineup and Wheel in its usual 6:30 slot. Unsurprisingly, Wheel got the short end of the stick; the former two shows aired overnight while Wheel did not air at all, but at least they posted the SPIN IDs:
abc7chicago.com/1107213/* WVEC in Virginia Beach (which airs Wheel at 7:00 Eastern) also kept Secret Santa hopefuls in the know by posting the SPIN IDs online:
www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/television/2015/12/02/secret-santa-sweepstakes/76695750/* WCCO Minneapolis pre-empted its 6:30 airing of Wheel and bumped it to 12:37 AM.
* WPXI Pittsburgh pre-empted both J! and Wheel.
* WECT in Wilmington, North Carolina bumped Wheel (normally 7:00 Eastern) to 3:07 AM.
* WTHR Indianapolis (which airs Wheel at 7:00 Eastern) bumped Wheel to its Cozi TV subchannel (nowadays, they use MeTV as Wheel's backup).
* WXIA Atlanta bumped Wheel (at 7:00 Eastern) to sister station WATL, but they cut off the show after the maingame; the Bonus Round was not seen as WATL accidentally switched back to the end of the normally-scheduled Andy Griffith Show rerun.
* Like WABC New York, WPVI Philadelphia pre-empted J! at 7:00, but did air Wheel at 7:30.
* WDIV Detroit surprisingly opted to air Wheel at 7:00 Eastern, only to pre-empt J! at 7:30 with news.
Twitter comments also show that these affiliates opted to air Wheel at 7:00 instead of national news:
* WHIO Dayton, OH (CBS)
* WFMY Greensboro, NC (CBS; the same viewer also mentioned that the local ABC affiliate opted to air Family Feud, while NBC and FOX stations stuck with news)
* WSAZ Huntington, WV (NBC)
* WCBD Charleston, SC (NBC)
* WIVB Buffalo, NY (CBS)
