Went to my local Goodwill today and snagged a copy of the '86 Deluxe edition for $3.00. I've never owned this version before and I can safely say I'm not disappointed in the least. I was expecting a tiny, rinky-dink Wheel spinner (think Game of Life or Parker Bros. WoF size) but when I opened the box the first words from my mouth were "That thing's (swear word) HUGE!" I've already got BIG plans for this set, but I'd like to hear everyone else's suggestions as well. I'm seriously considering using custom layouts or compiling the puzzles from the older editions if I can. I also tried Germanname's milk cap and free spin trick to make the wheel spin smoother, although I later dropped about 20 steel BB's into the Wheel base and that made it spin accurately but at the cost of it being ridiculously loud.

Well, the milk cap and Free Spin trick wasn't my idea (in fact, I don't mind admitting that I seriously doubt I could've ever come up with the idea anyway). The idea was the brainchild of a buddy over at YouTube, but yes, I'd recommend them as quieter alternatives to the BB's.
And if you're planning on using custom layouts, I got plenty of them.

Nice! I have this game but the spinner is different. Mine is a Wheel with an arrow in the middle to point to the dollar amount.

Good point, Germanname. I probably said it was your idea because the post that mentioned it was yours. Ironically enough I'm having flipper trouble on this one, too. I guess the ghost of my old Tyco set came back to haunt me, haha.
I'm kinda thinking of making this the ultimate WOF home game if I can compile a lot of puzzles and figure some other stuff out. I'm also trying to figure out how to keep the extra wedge labels in place considering they really don't want to stick.

Isn't it amazing the kind of shit you can find at thrift stores and yard sales? Seriously, you can get some good stuff, like this. Nice find!

It looks like all the pegs are still intact on the Wheel. Nice! Those things break off too easily.

I'm generally not too rough on my things, honestly, so I think those pegs will definitely be staying on! I just need to figure out how to get the Wheel spinning a bit better without having to constantly resort to the Free Spin/milk cap trick and maybe figure out how to get the wedge labels (and the actual layout!) to stay stuck on as both of those either already have peeled off or are rapidly doing so. @therealcu: I totally agree. I need to search thrift store more, honestly.

Thrift stores are really juicy places to find pretty much any Wheel of Fortune game. That's what I was doing until all the thrift stores that I easily could get to either closed down or started selling only clothes, much to my disappointment. Hopefully, a thrift store with my name on it will pop up some time.
Now here's a really good piece of advice that I can't stress enough. If you're able to, get spares! As an avid collector of Wheel of Fortune and video game merchandise, if an opportunity for a spare comes up and I know I can afford it, I jump at it without any hesitation. As a matter of fact, I have two copies of the 2007 Silver Deluxe Edition, the first I bought off of eBay, and the second I found at a thrift store while shopping in a suburb with my mother.

Yeah I found the Wheel Game I mentioned earlier this thread from Goodwill 3 years ago. I also found two Jeopardy games there.

If you're able to, get spares! My set actually came with an extra label sheet for the wedges, but I fully plan on nabbing spare parts when I can. Ebay is gonna have me all over it!
