Todays Jeopardy!'s show was the 8,000th episode. They had a special category on the show. SALUTE TO 8,000. I did not know that it was until the category came up. S-8000 was actually the 5/24 episode. That was part of James Holtzhaur's run when he got $2M. That wasnt mentioned on-air though. I heard they counted a few reruns as new episodes as well. So that wasn't the 8,000th and todays show was the 8,000th. This show was S-8065. The shows always do some themed puzzles/categories for their milestone shows. Wheel is over 1000 shows behind though since they only do 195 episodes a year instead of 230. And it was a nice show too. A new champion! Hard to believe Alex did 8,000 shows hosting. This might be his final season though.

Jeopardy!’s episode codes are 65 more than they should be because Season 1’s summer reruns were designated with unique numbers like new episodes, rather than “195R”, for example. Seasons 1 and 2 had 195 new episodes and 65 reruns per year like Wheel. Also, J! does not use the “S-“ prefix that Wheel does.
