A half-hour special produced by Wheel's then-affiliate for Kansas City KSHB (it would eventually move to WDAF), going behind the scenes on Wheel's 2005 remote in the city, and most interestingly, interviewing a three-day champion from 1979, complete with footage from her episodes! The narration mentions it was during Spring Break, and it definitely predates the $750/$1000/$2000 era in any case. The clips indicate that all three shows of Ellen's run exist. Neat scrapbook of stuff, and nice to see that some of her prizes held up nicely even in 2005.  While Ellen was clearly mentioned in several newspapers, I could only find this 7/13/79 blurb. This listing of photos by the University of Missouri lists a date of 3/4/79. |

I had breakfast with her yesterday and she has all her shows and interview with John Auble of KSDK on Betamax, VHS, and her shows on DVD - the latter courtesy of KSHB. We were talking nonstop for almost 3 hours and didn't want to stop! Since that interview, the two things she has left are the bench and magazine basket. The screen and dining set were sold when she moved back to Creve Coeur to help take care of her mom. |
