Hello All!
Thanks so much for all of the extremely valuable information all over this site!
I have my Gina audition tomorrow after having attended a wheelmobile event (and got boo’ed on stage for insulting the home team Miami Dolphins 🤣).
Just curious what to wear and any last minute tips?
I was planning to wear jeans, and polo, with a blazer and dressier type of sneaker shoes.
Is that acceptable so you think?
Thanks again and good luck to all!!

Hello.
Congratulations on getting a final audition!
As far as dressing up for the audition goes, it helps to dress as if you were going to be on the show.
Think of the audition like a job interview, and being a contestant on Wheel of Fortune is the job. You want to look your best. As the saying goes, dress to impress.
FWIW, when I had a final audition back in March, I wore a nice dress shirt, a vest, nice pants, and dress shoes. Combine what I wore with how well I did at the audition, and I ultimately got the acceptance letter.
To be honest, I would not wear jeans to the audition. Stick with "dressier" pants, like slacks. A blazer should be fine, though. However, I wouldn't wear a polo; instead, maybe a dress shirt to go well with the blazer. The sneakers should be fine as long as they look dressier than tennis shoes.
Please don't feel offended when I tell you what I think looks acceptable, and what doesn't; I'm just telling you my opinion about what looks fine and what doesn't simply because I'm trying to help you look your best for the audition.
Good luck at your final audition!

Hi acwof,
Thanks for the congrats and taking the time to offer your opinion. I take ZERO offense to anything, as that’s the reason I asked the question. I appreciate the feedback. I feel like the outfit looks dressier than it sounds, however I will definitely heed your advice.
Thanks again! Fingers crossed!!

I’m a gal, but definitely don’t wear jeans, look as nice as you can. Tips: be early, be engaged every minute. Clap for everyone, including yourself. Do Exactly what the contestant coordinators say, if they say to buy a vowel, then buy a vowel. They need people who will take directions. Speak up. If you stay for the 2nd part, have a 30 second speech about yourself ready.
Have a blast & good luck!

I agree with acwof that it is important to dress like you are going to a job interview because you want to impress the people working for the show and you want them to pick you as a contestant, which in my case, I wore a three piece suit. As bevy said, listen to Jackie or Shannon and obey their instructions. When I was auditioning back in 2015, they loved my reactions to when I landed on the $5,000 wedge and when I solved the puzzle correctly, so it is important to show some enthusiasm. As for the five minute test, do your best and see if they want to get to know you more. I remember being asked to stay and to introduce myself, I used a little bit of self depreciating humor with a chuckle at the end.

Basically the same as everyone, and rightfully so. I’m watching recorded episodes and trying to “focus” on tomorrow, all the while trying to “ignore” it, and prepare to just have fun hehe. I really appreciate you taking the time for suggestions regarding things to Be mindful of! 👍🙂

It’s very much appreciated! What type of reaction was it that you gave? I ask, however I don’t feel that’s something you can prepare for, and just really do need to react naturally and show your personality. That being said, any input, however, is most appreciated though!😬 Thanks again!

Thanks to all for your input. I Just finished and they didn’t ask me to stay. Pretty sure I’m not going to be selected as I got up a second time and selected a G which had been taken. Still a very fun experience and all the while well worth it!!!
Thanks again!

Hey all, so to sum up how my audition went, the first tile I was called I called two letters, then bought a vowel, and then I got a free spin and I hesitated when getting a free spin - I called my letter too quickly then meant to call a vowel. I felt like I was bringing good vibes cheering everyone else on, clapping, being engaged etc. Then I got called unexpectedly a second time, and that’s when I called a letter which was taken.
Given the fact that they didn’t ask me to stay, should I assume that they had seen enough of me and likely not in a positive light? It’s my thought that I won’t expect any mail, and I guess wondering if anyone else can confirm based on my description?
Thanks again and good luck to all!!

Don't give up hope. I wasn't asked to stay and get selected for the show. So just because you weren't asked to stay doesn't necessarily mean that you won't get picked. It sounds like you did fine. The wrong letter call was a mistake but I don't that it will doom you. They will take all factors into consideration. So fingers crossed that you get your letter in around two weeks.

Thanks! I’m somewhat reserving myself to the fact I likely won’t get selected to not be too disappointed, however deep down I (Like everyone here!) am dying, wanting that letter! lol
Thank you again!

I wouldn’t give up hope, either.
How did you do on the test?

I got 9/16 only, and a few partials...during the simulated gameplay I knew many if not most of the puzzles very early on, and felt good otherwise. I blanked on “Rhyme Time” category for some reason.

I hope it went well for you, I am late to the conversation. I think you got the message and I totally agree with what Bev said. This may be for any future audition hopefuls, but for me personally, I treated every step of the process as a professional interview, even including a shirt and tie to the Wheelmobile event. I tried to make myself stand out if I was lucky enough (which I was) to be drawn from the drum entries at the event. At the final audition, the same thing, this was an interview mindset. I mean, nervous, yes, it was a dream to actually be able to audition for a game show, but nervous in a good way. I have to strongly agree with what Bev said about listening. Perhaps I am a little naive, outside of your puzzle solving skills I believe the coordinators can turn anyone into a potential contestant, if you simply listen and follow their input. I know how to play wheel, I think everyone knows how to play, but the thing is on the show, you have to contend with the wheel and other players, “it ain’t always your turn”, and they are almost putting you through a crash course, they know their stuff. I cannot lie, I was surprised at how many simple instructions were not followed despite the CCs deliberate clarity in what they recommend. I will never know why I/we got chosen, but I have to figure a genuine bit of excitement and the ability to listen to their directions had to play a little bit of a role . Best of luck to you on receiving that letter! -Ryan

Without trying to be a negative Nancy, 9/16 seems like it has to be on the low end of acceptable...if you did get some partial credit and really blew them away with charm and gameplay presence, then you might still have a good shot, but it could be tough. I have heard from more than one source that the contents of the written test are all puzzles gathered up from the previous season. This really rewards the hopefuls who make Wheel into appointment viewing, so in the event you don't make it through I can think of a good adjustment for next time!

I was really disappointed on the performance and expected to get more myself. And in the event (which I really hope!) I get another shot, I will definitely bear that in mind. Thanks for your input, and I don’t consider it negative, simply realistic 🙂

Thanks for your input, and I don’t consider it negative, simply realistic 🙂 I'm glad that didn't sound mean, I was second-guessing myself as far as how useful that input was . You don't need anybody telling you they don't fancy your chances while you're sitting with your fingers crossed. If I were the contestant coordinators, I think I would pay a lot of attention to the superfans who make multiple attempts. Not only that, you'll have a much better idea of what to expect on successive tries assuming this one doesn't work out, so you'll probably be more comfortable with the whole process including the written test. Every successive try will build on previous ones. Just look at some of the success stories on this site, like MarioGS who had a handful of audition attempts (unsure of the exact number) before he made the cut and put up one of the most dominant showings in recent memory. Best of luck!
