I got 7 out of 16 on my test, and a few random words in other puzzles. I got 3/4 Things and 4/4 Showbiz puzzles, but Rhyme Time and Same Name kicked my butt...I didn’t get called to stay, but I rocked my puzzle (got lots of compliments from the producers about strong voice, letter picks, and then the solve)
As i wait out my two weeks, I’m just wondering if anyone has gotten a letter with a similar dismal test performance. Thanks!

An 8 is considered satisfactory which is what I got on my test. If your energy was good, then I'd have hope. It's all about patience at this point. So I guess just wait for the mail.

Welcome to the boards!
I'm not really sure of my exact test score, but when I took the written test during my final audition in March 2019, I think I solved at least 10/16 puzzles correctly, 12/16 at most.
I say this because I completely filled in 12 of the puzzles on the test. I left the remaining 4 puzzles blank, as I could not think of anything to put for partial on those puzzles.
I WAS asked to stay post-test, but I ended up getting the letter. I'm not sure if my test score had a lot to do with me getting the letter, though.
Congrats on making it to the final audition stage. I hope you get the letter.

I probably only got half right on the written test, I was asked to stay for the 2nd part. I did much better with the ones on the screen, solving two. I’m also a rule follower, so I did everything they told us to

One thing I've always wondered was what would happen if you got all the puzzles on the test right. Would that give you a good chance or would the producers smell a rat of "Did they cheat?" or "Are they so good of a puzzle solver that they'll cost us money?" As someone who understands that the show airs to make money, I still think about when I heard that MarioGS made it to the show. I was rather surprised because Robert, I was fully expecting you to win a whole lot, and you sure delivered on that. I was even wondering if you were going to clean them out. With that being said, what was your score again on that test, and what other factors do you believe came into play? Just so we have a good idea on what to expect when we audition.

I've actually wondered that too. If you read through the test and you were pretty confident you had a perfect score, would it be better to throw one or two just to make yourself a little less of an eyebrow-raiser? Obviously there's nothing too weird about a regular viewer recognizing every puzzle given that they come from the show itself, but would they be less inclined to take you if they think you're a word animal who is going to run roughshod over two regular people? (Obviously this can still happen as per your example but I wonder how much they seek to limit it!)

I got 6 correct on my test with some other partials. I was also not asked to stay and I made it on the show! Honestly, I think as long as you get at least a few right and show you were trying, the test doesn't matter quite as much as the beginning of the audition does. (Energy, following directions, calling letters clearly, etc.) The girl sitting next to me said she only got 4 right on her test. She was asked to stay and also made it on the show. So definitely don't give up hope!!

With that being said, what was your score again on that test, and what other factors do you believe came into play? Just so we have a good idea on what to expect when we audition. It took me two final auditions to make it on the show. The first time, I got 14/16 on the test. One of them I genuinely did not know (B&A: STAND PAT SAJAK; never heard the term "stand pat" before then, so I guessed STONE PAT SAJAK ), and the other I struggled with partially because I'm 99% sure that they accidentally only gave us one of the two N's in BILL CLINTON (__LL CL____N), so that threw me off and I just filled in "BILL CLEMMON", not even realizing it was supposed to be CLINTON until discussing it with others afterward. Second time, I got 16/16 and didn't even think about throwing any answers, but I did make sure to spend the rest of the time double and triple checking my answers, even pretending to erase and rewrite letters, rather than being like the know-it-all kid in class who sits up straight and awkwardly looks around the room waiting for "pencils down". I think the reason I didn't make it the first time was because I was told that I didn't have a "million dollar smile" when I was playing, and because I didn't wait for the room's applause to die down when calling a T, so it was misheard as Z (which was still there) and I corrected them, which was a dumb thing to do in retrospect. They scolded me for not being clear enough on that call, but that was one thing I really made sure to improve on the second time.

Took awhile but proud to report that 7 correct (with a few other random words filled in) was enough to make the cut!
