I know, it's been forever since we've had one of these, but being stuck at home under quarantine thanks to everything going on has led to me having way too much free time, and thus, time to actually do some behind the scenes work to the forums. Namely, I want to provide an update on a new security feature being implemented to the forums, along with a few other minor changes.
Effective immediately, any posts from new members will be automatically quarantined until they are approved by a moderator. This is in an effort to thwart spammers, trolls, and those seeking to evade suspensions or bans. The quarantine will automatically be lifted after a user's fifth post. The only posts which are to be rejected are spam or troll posts, or those from members who were previously banned; posts will not otherwise be screened for "quality". We're not trying to discourage people from joining, but rather, trying to keep the troublemakers at bay to ensure the forums are a safe place for all.
I have also added a little feature to give members a little something on their birthdays. Nothing much, just a nice way to celebrate. Of course, this will only work if you have your birthday visible in your profile.
You may have noticed more activity lately in Stage 11 3/4, our mock Wheel game section. With so many people stuck at home in the current crisis, we decided to reboot the section somewhat to give folks something to do to distract themselves from reality. If you'd like to host a show, send me a script. Check the Rules stickied to the top of the Stage 11 3/4 section for more details.
Finally, I just want to thank you guys for always being awesome. We have a great group of Wheel watchers here, and even if the quality of the show itself these days might not necessarily be up to everyone's level, that doesn't hinder the fact that you guys are one of the best fan communities anywhere on the Web. It's hard to believe that this is now our twelfth year of operation... I don't think anyone expected us to get to where we are today when the site first started in 2009, under a different name and different management.
