I’m not sure if the Carnival week will air on the week of August 31. Per People, the CDC recommended that cruise ships do not sail through September 15.

Carnival also tweeted out on Twitter 3 hours ago that they are pausing operations till September 15

Maybe, they'll just do no sweepstakes or delay it to Season 38, but I think it will still air since it will have been filmed over six months ago and I think it would be harder for the contestants to keep their results a secret longer than that. (the longest time I know of that it's ever taken for an episode to air is April 7, 2017 (Taped on August 26, 2016).

^ Here is what I predict. If there is not another delay in their operations before August 31 then the episodes should air and the sweepstakes should happen. With the sweepstakes happening the winner of it can't go on their cruise till after September 15. (the longest time I know of that it's ever taken for an episode to air is April 7, 2017 (Taped on August 26, 2016). Speaking of that, the current music package didn't exist yet when that whole week was taped. So they had to dub in the current music package. There were instances that week where the old music bled through and where they forgot to change it

Even if it did change to the Sept 15 date, with the shows being shown Aug 31-Sept 4, there wouldn't be much chance of anyone being ready to go before then anyhow (you are only talking a week and a half).

Carnival cancelled cruises even further than September 15. They are cancelled through September 30, according to their Twitter. I just checked and Google still lists the episodes for August 31-September 4.

Well that's not good. They need to just air them without a sweepstakes. I don't see a problem with it airing without a sweepstakes though Carnival is the sponsor of the week and their operations are suspended

I just checked and Google still lists the episodes for August 31-September 4. Google's episode guide for Wheel is generally updated during the first week of every calendar month, so it will probably be a couple weeks before we see anything change there. Well that's not good. They need to just air them without a sweepstakes. I don't see a problem with it airing without a sweepstakes though Carnival is the sponsor of the week and their operations are suspended It's not good business strategy to promote a travel company when it's not operating. The goal is to get people to go and book a cruise the minute they see the promotion. If people try to do that on August 31 and see that they haven't picked back up yet, that's not a good impression.

Although with cruises, people rarely book one that close to the date it occurs (save a handful that live in port towns, but they already know what's going on).
Thus, even if someone sees the advertising and goes to the site on August 31st and then sees that they couldn't book anything until the end of September or later it wouldn't matter, as the chance of them booking something between 8/31 and 9/30 is slim to none anyway.

^ I just went on Carnival's website and cruises are still purchasable. So when they see the promotion they can still buy cruises.

I'm not so much interested as to whether they should air the shows in August - because in my mind its a no brainer they should hold them if things do not improve - but rather who has the rights to stop the episodes.
Is Carnival able to say they don't want them to air yet? Or does Wheel have ultimate control and can do what they want, even if it's a poor decision for the partnership?
If Wheel wants to never show them, that's fine with me as long as they pay the contestants their winnings (which they would not be required to do).

The worst I see happening is that Wheel doesn't air the episodes at all, but pays the contestants their cash plus cash equivalents of any cruises won, and sends them DVD copies of their episode.

The week has come and gone, but it's worth noting for the sake of the cruise winners that Carnival's earliest sailings to date are November 2, and only a handful of ships will resume service that month as it stands now. More details here: cruiseradio.net/these-five-carnival-ships-are-scheduled-for-november-cruises/Also, Carnival's newest ship, the Mardi Gras, whose name was announced on Wheel, was scheduled to have its maiden voyage on October 16, 2020, later delayed to November 14. It has now been delayed to February 6, 2021.
