I've heard a few people around the 'net say that they remember a small period of time around 1999 where they moved the $5,000 wedge to Round 3, and the top dollar value for Round 4 was the $10,000 prize wedge, but with the back side facing up, and it was treated as a normal cash space. Some people also said that there was an episode from 1996 where the $10K prize was placed face-down in Round 3, but it was a mistake, and Pat acknowledged it at the start of Round 4 with relief that nobody landed on it since they would get $10K per letter, then he joked that there was now a million dollar space on the wheel ("Hilarious in Hindsight" much? ). Someone said they actually had that episode on tape. Does anybody else here remember it or its original air date? And more importantly, Did the first incident mentioned really happen?

I actually can atest to that. There were several mistakes like this in mid 1996 to early '97. The 10,000 was near the bankrupt, on the opposite side.

How could Pat and the production team not notice such a mistake before taping began though?

Or maybe they did and was trying to make a joke out of it for us viewers. I know they used to take the wedge off for the fans to hold it and used to make jokes about the "opposite" 10k per word.

I noticed a ton of template errors in 1995-97 myself. Nothing new; I've seen template errors as far back as 1989, and as recent as May 2011 (on May 2, they somehow forgot to put the MDW on!).

I remember this one week, I believe it was during season 28. There was a whole week where the feautured prize was from Sears, and instead of being on the $350 space where it normally sits, it was on the green $300 space instead (where the Free Spin token used to sit before it was retired).
Does anyone have any shots of that? I just realized I forgot to take a shot of that.

That was probably intentional. The wedge was monstly red. In its normal location, it would be next to another red wedge, $800, so they moved it because it looked nicer that way.

I can't blame them for doing such, but does anyone have a screenshot of it at all?
