This episode just turned 15...it deserves a recap!
We see an animated intro about a woman flying home in her jetpack. A few bumps along the way and she manages to make it to the show in time.
EPISODE: #4371: GUILTY PLEASURES
Airdate: 1/2/06
Go!
Renee tells us to "EAT, DRINK AND BE MERRY".
The first players of 2006:
Renee Brusa: Burr Ridge, IL. Special Ed teacher who has a 3-month-old son named Dominic at home.
Michael Kelleher: El Cajon, CA. Vocalist and percussionist in a smooth jazz R&B band called Reel to Real. Has a daughter and a granddaughter. He also was a Navy corpsman during Vietnam and works with the Veterans Administration (he's one of the paralyzed veterans).
Shannon Geach: El Paso, TX. Graduate student at Texas Tech in audiology (hearing, balance, other related things). She's also a member of the national association of future doctors of audiology. Other things she does: read, work out, and watch Texas Tech football.
Since Michael's in a wheelchair, Debbie Vega will do the spinning for him.
Go!
Shannon solves APPLE ORCHARD.
FEATURED PRIZE: ValetNoir.com trip to Las Vegas worth $6,100 (marked VEGAS)
MON/WED/FRI GIFT TAGS: Shari's Berries, Spafinder
$10,000 ROUND
How's this for a starter, it's also our...
PRIZE PUZZLE!
Michael tried to call an H after spinning LOSE A TURN.
Shannon might bring some INFLATABLE POOL TOYS on her trip to THE CARIBBEAN (Karibea Hotels on the island of Martinique, American Airlines) worth $5,700, making this a $6,850 round for her.
TRIP SPIN ID: SM17397
DUDS: R (Renee), C (Michael), H (Renee)
LOSE A TURNS: 2 (Renee's opponents)
BANKRUPTS: 2 (same guys)
Going into commercial (all this week), the show does a promotion about next week as 5 lucky winners back then would see Vanna get her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (and get access to a vip after party).
JACKPOT ROUND
SPONSOR: Tums Smoothies
Pat joked that he wanted to have that sponsored product for dessert.
The cameras didn't pinpoint to Michael's scoreboard at his second LOSE A TURN hit of the game.
Shannon solves HUGH & GOVERNMENT GRANT.
DUDS: S (Renee), C (Renee), I (Michael)
LOSE A TURNS: 2 (those same people)
LEFT BEHIND IN POT: $12,500
The MYSTERY plug this week has Vanna walking to shops with a bunch of bags. Pat jokes about if there's any receipts she has.
MYSTERY ROUND
Now that's more like it! Renee remembers "CHICAGO WHITE SOX CAPTURE WORLD SERIES TITLE" for the outright lead!
BANKRUPTS: 2 (Michael, Shannon)
Renee mentioned that she's a Cubs fan, so it's (sort of) appropriate she got that one.
Aware of the Cubs/White Sox rivalry, Pat notes that Jerry Reinsdorf (White Sox owner) commonly watches this show, so people should give him thanks (even if the previous puzzle does anger him).
The leftmost bottom title was reveled last.
Go!
TAKE IT EASY, Michael - you've finally scored.
DING DING! DING DING!
FINAL SPIN: $1,800
Michael: H ($5,350)
Shannon: C ($1,800)
Shannon solves COTTON HAND TOWELS.
FINAL SCORES
WINNINGS SO FAR: $31,300
BANKRUPT TRASH: $3,750
BONUS ROUND:
It's a new year and a new week. Let's see what Renee can take pleasure on...
2006 Pontiac Solstice
2006 Hummer H3
The cash ($25K-$50K)...
...or the ultimate deal ($100,000)!
Renee apparently doesn't have anyone watching, but she takes the wheel to the 10,000's digit.
RSTLNE gives her most of the top:
GCMA gives her the obvious...
Well, Renee misses the bottom saying JOY, BOY, ONE, SON, TIME, FUN and RUN. She was so close on her second guess as it was A GREAT BUY...
...and there goes the Hummer H3. But I'm sure she'll pleasure herself with $15,250.
Speaking about Guilty Pleasures, Vanna's favorite is eating the Painters' homemade ice cream in North Myrtle Beach (she also thanks Cheryl, Jimmy and Dominic for sending that tasty treat from her hometown - the Vanna Banana Split).
There's a full credit roll in the end.
