APPLICABLE: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Since today is Mardi Gras, here's a couple of episodes taped from the Big Easy as a request from captainfortune (N'awlins IS the place for celebrating that holiday). These episodes have Rockin' Dopsie Jr. and the Zydeco Twisters for the house band.
This one is taped at the Louisiana Superdome (now the Mercedes-Benz Superdome). I'd also like to mention that this episode turned 21 just yesterday.
Now, figure out this puzzle if you will...
EPISODE #3237: NEW ORLEANS
Airdate: 2/15/00
No, Pat, it can't be BILLIE JEAN KING - we were looking for CAJUN COOKING.
Anyway, these contestants (all from Louisiana) would like to play:
Milton Lambert: Lutcher. Manager for a major pipeline company. Married to Sharon for 1.5 years. Also, he loves to cook and eat Cajun stuff (regarding that Preview Puzzle)
Luther Williams: New Orleans. Scriptural cryptologist (researches hidden messages in the Bible) who's studying jazz piano ever since he was 6 (that was before he started watching this show) and recently recorded a CD.
Kara Duplantier: Zachary. Flight attendant who's married to Andre and a LSU alumni (she also played the piccolo in the golden band from tiger land - she met her hubby in that band and he also played piccolo)
Category wipe is a trumpet.
Kara solves WEEKEND GUESTS. Can she turn that 1 into a 4?
Well, she only gets the first word of WELCOME MAT.
DUDS: B (Milton), R (Luther)
1ST PRIZE ADDED TO WHEEL: a $4,000 shopping spree at Simon Malls (marked SHOPPING SPREE)
STOP, YOU'RE MAKING ME HUNGRY - Kara takes another one and Wolfgang Puck makes a cameo appearance! Speaking about Puck, he now has a line of canned soup (his face is on the backside) and he also just opened up a new restaurant at the Venetian in Las Vegas.
Rockin' Dopsie Jr. and the Zydeco Twisters take us into the first commercial break...
2ND PRIZE ADDED TO WHEEL: 6n trip to the Radisson SAS Hotel in Berlin via Collette Tours + tickets to a taping of Glücksrad worth $4,892 (marked GERMANY)
We see German hostess Sonya Kraus in the audience.
JACKPOT ROUND
SPONSOR: appropriately Zatarain's
The house band plays through the JACKPOT plug.
PERFECTION! Kara knows that there's DECORATIVE-IRONWORK BALCONIES all around this city to keep the spree! Appropriate as well since she loves to shop.
LEFT BEHIND IN POT: $11,550
I've never heard of IRONWORK until now.
Looks like at least one of the men will be sent home with parting gifts as we've ran out of time here. Pat spins for $1,600 consonants.
Milton: S ($1,600) (the "ding" sounded on that letter)
Luther: T ($1,600) (he says SLIM for the first word)
Kara: M
Milton: 2 R's ($4,800)
Luther: B
Kara: 2 F's ($3,200)
Kara solves SURF AND TURF and sweeps the maingame!
DUDS: M (Kara), B (Luther)
FINAL SCORES
NO BANKRUPTS!
BONUS ROUND:
All 5 envelopes are here and Kara picks the H.
The 2nd blank took a bit to long to pop up.
We hope RSTLNE can steer her in the right direction:
CDMA is of minimal help...
And no total clean sweep here. Kara says something COLD, but it's actually PURE GOLD and she loses the Mitsubishi Montero. She's still going home with $18,450 in cash & spree.
Pat mentions the house band for the week (Rockin' Dopsie Jr. and the Zydeco Twisters). He asks what Zydeco really is - it's basically jazz mixed in with R&B. They also play through the end credits.
Full credit roll in the end.
