Airdate: December 12, 2003
From Sony Pictures Studio, it's America's game! We're almost out of Tropics Week...
But before we cool down, we still have some more puzzles. Here's our first Toss-Up!
Go!
Aileen solves LINCOLN MEMORIAL.
Today's contestants:
Aileen Parker: Waitress and recent graduate who wants to work with the FBI, from Levittown, PA
Mark Cantrell: In the Air Force with his wife (and she outranks him, but Pat says that would be true even if they weren't in the force), from Fairview Heights, IL
Jan Hardin: Realtor for 20 years and counting, also a grandmother; from Leucadia, CA
Go!
Jan solves TONGUE TWISTERS.
No one will worry about what happened earlier if Jan can score the $10,000 prize.
Jan solves CRAZIER THINGS HAVE HAPPENED.
Perfection! Aileen solves THINK OUTSIDE THE BUN, and she can throw in a $3,000 bonus if she knows where the slogan is from.
She says Burger King. She's way off, and we were looking for Taco Bell.
Are you just crazy, or do you feel lucky? There are two $500 spaces in the Mystery Round, and one of them has a BANKRUPT, but the other has a Cartier gift certificate worth $10,000.
Mark reads what's on the board. It's not "QVC", it's "DVD".
Go!
Aileen solves THIRD WATCH.
We'll be watching how she does in this round.
DING DING! DING DING!
Actually, we're short on time, so Pat will give the Wheel a Final Spin. Consonants are worth $5,000 + $1,000 for $6,000 a piece! Now we're really watching what happens!
Aileen: N ($6,000)
Mark: R (x2) ($12,000) (It takes a while to display on his scoreboard.)
Jan: T ($6,000)
Aileen: S (x2) ($18,000)
Mark: D (DUD!)
Jan: M (DUD!)
Aileen: L ($24,000)
Mark: E (x2) ($12,000)
Mark solves SHREVEPORT LOUISIANA. Imagine if he called a consonant...
BONUS ROUND:
RSTLNE gives her:

That was really close, but Aileen is in Bonus Land! Now she could win a car or cash up to $100,000! (Or maybe there's a new space labeled "everything".)
She has her brother and father in the audience!
It's time for one more spin! Aileen stops at the dollar sign, and she gets started on this puzzle.

...and she couldn't take the Mercedes SLK convertible. Aileen still leaves with $15,250 in cash.
In the post-game, Pat notes that there's no name for those signaling devices used in the Toss-Ups. They don't "buzz", they don't "click". Vanna says they "ding". After Pat called them "Toss-Up devices", Pat said they could be called "tuds".
