Well, it happened. After like 3 months of hard work, mechamind decided to call it quits on the classic episodes (for now). I fully understand why he wanted to do that (I think we can all agree that we get burnout from making daily recaps at times.), but I'll definitely miss his daily contributions.
For that, I will try to post a recap here every day (except for the days where I can't quite make it) so that this section won't feel so empty. Here's one from the 20th season (from Culver City - this does not take place in San Francisco, whammy007!).
EPISODE #3791: SAN FRANCISCO
Airdate: 12/30/02
Go!
Pat mistakenly said that this Toss-Up wins the right to start the first round
Tina solves DISNEY ON ICE.
Kicking off this week:
Tina Hopkins: Nashville, TN. Account manager for a document & copy installations company. She also loves to sing and is an 80s cover band called Max Headrain.
Barrett Hildreth: Portland, OR. Laundry man who's married to Mandy with a baby on the way. Enjoys travelling, sightseeing and outdoor sports.
Christie Gaither: Steelton, PA. Married to Charles with 3 kids.
Go!
Tina's incorrect with WHEN CAN I SPEAK? while Barrett says "WHEN CAN I START?". Well, right now, sir since that's correct.
GIFT TAG: TicketsNow.com
Tina finally solves BLUE DENIM SLEEPER SOFA for the sparkly cash!
DUDS: T (Barrett), H (Christie)
PRIZE ADDED TO WHEEL: trip to the Fairmont Hotel (marked SAN FRANCISCO all this week) worth $3,850
For some reason, there's an IKEA gift tag at the close-up shot of the wedge.
JACKPOT ROUND
THIS WEEK'S SPONSOR: America Online
Christie reads what's up there.
DUDS: S (Christie), P (Barrett)
BANKRUPT: Tina
LEFT BEHIND IN POT: $13,150
Viewers could win a trip to the Pro Bowl next week (includes a stay at the Waikiki Beach Marriott).
MYSTERY ROUND
BEHIND THE WEDGE: 2003 Toyota Echo sedan ($12,916)
Christie reads another puzzle - this time for a brand new car!
For some reason, they don't do the normal shot at the puzzleboard at the solve attempt.
BANKRUPTS: 2 (others)
$35K+ given away so far...
Go!
Barrett quickly IDs WONDER WOMAN.
DING DING! DING DING!
FINAL SPIN: $1,300
I've heard somebody say "Yes!"...gotta be Christie.
Barrett: 2 T's ($2,600)
Christie: 2 S's ($2,600
Tina: 2 N's ($2,600)
Tina solves UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT.
FINAL SCORES
WINNINGS SO FAR: $41,966
BANKRUPT TRASH: $10,100
BONUS ROUND:
After a quick caffine break, here's what Christie could win...
2003 Cadillac CTS
2003 Infiniti QX4 4x2 ($36K+)
Extra Cash ($25K-$50K)...
...or perhaps everything ($100,000)!
I believe Christie's by herself, but she spins to the A.
RSTLNE gives just one:
DMWA gives just the vowel...
She's incorrect with LEOPARD, BEAGLE and PEASHELL (which is kinda close), so this PEACOCK flew away with...
...$100,000.
Then again, she's perfectly fine with what she won anyway - $20,966, which includes a brand new car!
The puzzle revealed as it was solved.
After all, this really is a 2-sided coin. On the one hand, it was a disappointing loss. On the other hand, Christie won a bunch of stuff and seemed quite happy to be here (and being on this show is a victory in itself).
