Hello, I'm phithpleis, and I'm new here. The first thing I would like to talk about has to do with the gift tags on the wheel. It's something I've just noticed in the show: every time someone lands on the gift tag and call the letter, they always end up being correct and picking up that $1,000 "flokati rug"! (I say that, because only cash values multiply the value, and no matter how many letters are called, it's still a single $1,000 amount; also, it can't be used to buy vowels, but that's not the point.)
The point I'm trying to make is that you ever notice how they always end up calling the letters correctly when they land on the gift tag wedge, even though it's so useless? And not only that, most of the time, they don't end up keeping the tag anyway, either by hitting bankrupt or losing the round (although I have seen some occasions where contestants win the round with the gift tag.)
Maybe the gift tag is always won because the sponsors paid to have their gift tag being offered on the wheel, and they don't want to be cancelled abruptly by having the contestant call the letter wrong, so they give the contestant a letter in the puzzle to call without penalty, and thus, they always end up picking up the gift tag.
That's my opinion on why such a phenomenon happens that you might've failed to notice. But any of you folks have a different reason why it happens?

The show would get in big trouble with Standards and Practices if this were true. Did you ever think that the contestants get a correct letter and pick it up most of the time because they want to keep their turn going and fill in letters, as they would landing on a cash space? The sponsors of the tags get their money no matter what since whatever it is is still being advertised whether or not it's picked up just by being seen on the wheel.

I don't think S&P would be too happy about that.jjc927 beat me to it. . . . But any of you folks have a different reason why it happens? Luck? Skill?

Welcome to the forums! As for your question, I'd say that it's not luck or skill, it's the fact that contestants will pick letters that appear multiple times on any value. Like if a puzzle has two Ts and one L unrevealed, they'll land on the Gift Tag and call the T. Contestants don't really have any strategies, finesse, etc... and mos of the time they'll play it safe, even if it means picking a multiple. I hope that helps.
