You can easily discover one of the flaws of Double Play just from this first playing. The "ooh" sound effect from the Studio 33 era that is often used when just missing a prize/TDV is still present on a couple occasions, even if the "AWWWW!" is no longer present.
A nice surprise too found in the Bonus Round, with an easy puzzle solution that most should get with RSTLNE that's worth adding over on the Wiki that could cover anything from Null Cycle to Pity Thousand.
Even back then, I could see the strong resemblances between this Amy and Amy Jo Johnson of Power Rangers fame that so many boys my age went crazy over. She deserved it by having the best overall gameplay, with one nasty Bankrupt being the big blow. It's too bad that have been no more solo Teen Weeks after this week since I like the youthful energy of these contestants whose futures are still a mystery. Yet that other show still provides those Teen Tournaments without any issue.
Still, Season 13 is interesting in that it was the first season to have properly defined theme weeks, yet still contained returning champs during regular play, the multiple layouts for each round dating back to Season 5, penalty Final Spins still unedited, as well as Charlie still announcing the Lovely Parting Gifts in house. Definitely a fun season to watch.

You can easily discover one of the flaws of Double Play just from this first playing. More like the flaw of having a non-monetary item that can only be used in the maingame available in Round 4+. Free Spin was never available in the same round that a Final Spin could happen. Even when they started making it available after R2, it was taken off for R4. The Wild Card was available in R4+ for its first couple seasons, and the MDW's are still available in the final main round of CWOF, but those can be carried to the Bonus Round. If you picked up Double Play in Round 4 or later, you might as well have been one of those players that turns it in right after picking it up, just like how contestants today who have almost no chance of winning will throw away their Wild Card in R4 pre-Speed-Up. |
