As most of you may have confirmed via the WHEEL OF FORTUNE timeline , there were no Road Shows scheduled during the 1990-1991 Season and the Daytime version was still on the air at the time. So that made me wonder if Daytime Wheel's cancellation meant more road shows for Nighttime Wheel's following season -- the 1991-1992 Season. So, I would like to know what you think. Please vote "yes", "no", or "maybe" and add on an explanation as to why you think or don't think the Daytime Wheel's cancellation launched more road shows for Nighttime Wheel. I would say it makes sense. With one less show to finance, they could afford to go on the road.

The question is: What was the reason behind them not going during the 1990-1991 season? Was there a conflict of schedule with the Daytime version which kept the Nighttime edition grounded the whole season? Or was the budget to blame?

It was probably due to the low budget. I mean seriously they were at an all time LOW in 1991. Hopefully that WASN'T the issue back then.

Maybe that was the cause back then or maybe they just didn't know about in state road trips being cheaper and wasn't the budget a tad higher with daytime dropping shopping as well.

That's a good question. But there was this rumor that says the budget for the Daytime Version may have disappeared around the final days of Bob Goen as host. Is that true?

Considering all the low spaces on the wheel and the paltry vowel cost, I'd say yes.

Then it's no wonder the show was cancelled in 1991. I mean, Bob Goen did a great job hosting the show...even when it was on its last leg.
As you may recall, when Sajak left Daytime WHEEL and Rolf Benerschke took over as host in 1989, the ratings the crashed and NBC pulled the plug.
When the show moved CBS that same year, even Goen at the helm, the ratings still hadn't recovered.
So, I'm thinking it was a wise decision in my opinion for the producers to do away with the Daytime show and stick with the Nighttime Version because, as it is today, many more people can catch shows during Night as opposed to during the day.
