Tuesday's Disaster
EPISODE #3003: CHRISTMAS WEEK
Airdate: 12/23/98
The midweek panel:
Demetri Andrinkos: Fountain Valley, CA. Does technology licensing for a large aerospace company who's married for 3 years to Diane with a 2-year-old daughter. He comes from a wine-making family in Greece (they owned a vineyard for several generations and he hopes to pass it down to his kids).
Richard Smith: Houston, TX. Purdue University senior majoring in architecture who's married to Shawn for 2 years (she's in the audience with a 1-year-old son named Chandler (he couldn't make it, so he wore a badge displaying his son as a good-luck charm).
Tracy Griffiths: Huntingtown, MD (found in contestant search at the Hyatt Regency in Washington, D.C.). Teaches a 4-5-year-old class at Prime Time Children's Center who's married to Ken for 8 years (he's in the audience) with 2 daughters.
PERFECTION! Demetri pinpoints THE STATE OF VERMONT. Can he be over 5 grand already?
He knows that this state is known for its MAPLE SYRUP.
1ST PRIZE ADDED TO WHEEL: trip to Grand Case Beach Club (marked St. Martin) worth $4,180
Demetri only gets as far as "AND IF YOU EVER SAW IT, YOU WOULD...", so he's gonna have to kiss that cash goodbye. Ouch.
Tracy then solves "AND IF YOU EVER SAW IT, YOU WOULD EVEN SAY IT GLOWS" (sung by Gene Autry who passed away that year). Of course we're talking about Rudolph's Nose here.
DUDS: H (Richard), C (Tracy), B (Richard)
LOSE A TURN: Demetri
BANKRUPTS: 2 (non-Demetris)
DQ: Demetri's incomplete solve
2ND PRIZE ADDED TO WHEEL: $2,500 GC at The Fashion Centre At Pentagon City + stay at Loews L’Enfant Plaza Hotel ($5,900)
All of the $2,500 GCs this week can be used at any Simon property.
JACKPOT ROUND
The box is empty.
Pat prompted Tracy to spin BEFORE the puzzle was up. Guess he was so focused on the box.
Tracy solves TAPIOCA & PLUM PUDDING to keep the cash and the shopping trip!
DUDS: S (Tracy), H (Demetri), R (Richard), E (Tracy)
BANKRUPTS: 2 (men)
LEFT BEHIND IN POT: $12,150
Once again, it took us a while to figure out the puzzles, so it's time for Santa Sajak to spin. Every consonant is worth...$5,000 apiece! Tracy's now in danger of losing.
Demetri: 2 T's ($10,000)
Richard: 2 R's ($10,000)
Tracy: C ($5,000)
Demetri: M ($15,000)
Richard: 2 S's ($20,000)

Demetri: 2 G's ($25,000)
Demetri solves CHRISTMAS EVE GATHERING to land his win! Of course his name is Greek for "Never in Doubt"...
DUD: D (Demetri), P (Richard)
FINAL SCORES
Maybe Richard's good luck charm wasn't lucky at all...
WINNINGS SO FAR: $50,000 even
BANKRUPT TRASH: $6,500
BONUS ROUND:
Demetri's made his way to the top from the Valley and maybe he'll seal the deal by winning the envelope in the first E.
RSTLNE gives a third:
CFMI gives him a good shot...
Unfortunately, he still can't get the first word in BIG AS LIFE...
...and he'll have to say goodbye to the Chevy Tahoe. He still won $30,350 in cash - not a bad day's night by any stretch of the means!
Richard's son might get a Bachmann train set.
Christmas is coming soon...but both hosts only have time to say goodbye.
