There was this question that was bought to my attention regarding the minor set changes during the 1990-91 Season of Nighttime Wheel.
Of course you know, those changes included the Black floor and the Diamond Backdrops while the Daytime edition retained the look from the previous season.
I had always thought the transition for the Nighttime Wheel was meant to distinguish the show from the Daytime edition.
So here's the question: Do you think the transition for Nighttime Wheel was necessary to distinguish the show from its Daytime counterpart?
Please vote "Yes", "No", or "Maybe". And please feel free to explain to why?

Well I'd think it would be pretty necessary to have something noticeable like this to distinguish the daytime and nighttime shows.

Well, while i voted yes, I think it just added more because previously there were just 2 differences in nighttime the 5000 wheel was replaced with the WHEEL star stand and the host was pat at night and bob during the day. A black floor was needed but the diamonds prohibited road shows at the time

I said yes. You want to make the nighttime set look as lavish as possible compared to the daytime set.
I think they knew the daytime show was starting to fall apart, and they probably started saying, "You know what? Let's just make the transition a little more permanent for the nighttime show because the daytime show is going to fold sooner or later. Let's just finish this off yet try end it on as good of a note as possible." That's probably when and why they started making the smallest value be $100 instead of $50.

It's a good thing they decided to make that transition because I believe the way Nighttime Wheel had gained ground during the late 80s early 90s, there was no way for the Daytime counterpart to do the same. The viewers had become more interested in the Nighttime set rather than the daytime. And the same could be said about catching it at an easier time.

Yep it's easier to catch a night show than a day show, day shows required VCR at the time, and now that every one has DVR, they can catch either, and watch either at either time. Sorry to go a tad off topic here but.., I wish they'd have a Generic Nighttime Price like they used to but we know CBS can't do that because It would be pretty hard to catch up with Wheel and Jeopardy, even if all three were aired in this order, Price (cause it's the earliest aired) @6 est Wheel @7 est and Then Jeopardy @ 7:30 est. This would be the ideal game show line up, even if Price has been running forever.

That would not work for a number of reasons. One, there's no need whatsoever for a nighttime Price besides a few Million Dollar Spectaculars a year (and with the current direction of the show I'm not sure I'd even want to see them anymore). Two, CBS' primetime lineup is stacked already. And three, CBS would not take news off that hour.

I'm forced to agree with you, JJ. There is no way possible to squeeze in a nightly edition of THE PRICE IS RIGHT when CBS is already at its current ready status. And I honestly don't see a reason or point in reinstating the Million Dollar Spectacular when we already know, during Bob Barker's era, the Million Dollar Prize wasn't given away but three times under Drew Carey's tenure. So, we'll leave THE PRICE RIGHT exactly where it is, at its daytime post.
