A couple of questions regarding the show's current practice of editing:
1) Approximately what season did the show start editing out three consecutive lost turns?
2) What was the exact airdate of the first known episode with a non-cash Final Spin edited out?

Editing out "null" turns probably started in Season 22. I know on 9/6/04, they edited out at least one "good" turn by mistake, and I don't think they'd have done that unless they were also editing out "null" turns. And I'm almost 100% certain that I never saw any edits (e.g., cutting to Pat during the Speed-Up) in season 21.

I actually don't even remember the Speed-Up Pat cuts happening before Season 27. I'm guessing that's more of a new thing. There was also an edit earlier this season right when Speed-Up started. Just after the post-spin wipe, you could see the blue podium flashing just before red's goes back to flashing as it should have been since he was in control when the bell rang, and you could hear the music playing with different timing just under a louder layer of the music, which was probably added to cover up the edit better.

Any idea on the exact date of this? (And I could swear they were cutting to Pat in the Speed-Up way before S27.)

According to a quick Google search of what's left of the Sony boards, January 24, 2011 (I posted about how I noticed it in the recap thread there). Check out the round with open eyes and ears if you have the episode recorded.
I was just assuming about the Pat cuts. It probably has been happening for a while.

To answer your second question, Mario, February 24th, 1997 was the first episode that non-cash Final Spins were edited out of the broadcast. This was also the first episode with the touch screen puzzleboard.

^I think what he's asking is, did they actually DO such an edit on the 2/24/97 episode?
