The Opener
Since Halloween is right around the corner, here's some shows for you that take place on a spooky, yet decorative set.
But can you figure out this puzzle first?
S17, EPISODE #3157: HALLOWEEN WEEK
Airdate: 10/26/99
All this week, the hosts enter through a gate behind the wheel.
As usual, Pat is stumped - the answer's DRUMSTICKS.
Playing on the day of Pat's 53rd birthday:
Steve Fearer (?): Templeton, CA. Manager of a drug store in Morro Bay who's married 23 years with 2 teenagers.
Sarah Barongut: Wilmington, DE. University of Delaware senior studying English journalism (she wants to work for a women's magazine).
Elandra Hovis: Cleveland, OH. Registration specialist with 2 grown kids. Also collects snow globes in her spare time.
Elandra solves ADAM WEST AS BATMAN. Can she add a 3 to her score?
These can also be great costume accessories and Elandra knows that's CAPE & MASK.
DUD: L (Sarah)
BANKRUPT: Steve
1ST PRIZE ADDED TO WHEEL: Meade LX 200 TELESCOPE ($4,995)
PERFECTION! Sarah rightly says IT'S A MIRACLE OF MODERN SCIENCE.
I would've gone for those C's.
2ND PRIZE ADDED TO WHEEL: Tootsie Roll party (marked HALLOWEEN), $7,300
JACKPOT ROUND
SPONSOR: yes, it's Tootsie Roll
I think there was a jump cut on the first spin. The M call kinda confirmed it for me.
Steve pinpoints THE OZARK MOUNTAINS.
AIRED DUDS: Y (Sarah), P (Elandra)
AIRED LOSE A TURNS: 2 (ladies)
AIRED BANKRUPT: Steve
LEFT BEHIND IN POT: $8,900
Sarah solves CREATURE FEATURE.
BANKRUPT: Steve
DING DING! DING DING!
FINAL SPIN: $1,300
Elandra: P ($2,400)
Steve: F ($6,300)
Steve makes it through this PATCHY FOG to steal the game!
DUDS (ALL BEFORE BELL): D (Sarah), R (Elandra), W (Steve), S (Sarah)
FINAL SCORES
WINNINGS SO FAR: $16,850
BANKRUPT TRASH: $5,095
BONUS ROUND
LETTER PICKED: first E (a scream came out from that letter; yes it's laughable)
RSTLNE gives Steve 30%:
Wipe is a Jack-O-Lantern.
PDMI seems pretty good...
Hey, Steve, maybe you could take that FAMILY TRIP to Transylvania ($24,231; there's some bats on the envelope's top half) and have dinner at Dracula's Castle over there! His kids come over for the celebration.
STEVE'S FINAL TOTAL: $31,781 ($7,550 plus the Transylvania trip)
Apparently, Vanna doesn't know where Transylvania is (it's in Romania if you also don't know)...

OVERALL THOUGHTS: This is one of those episodes where it really isn't over until it's over. Yes, rounds 3 & 5 were a bit of a mess, but I liked the overall competiveness of the game so...7/10.
