T-Mobile Puzzle

In the final segment, Pat and Vanna talk about the Cloud Gate, known as "The Bean". It gets wiped down every day in the summer, cleaned twice a week with a soft brush at the end of a long hose, and it's completely buffed twice a year...just like Pat! Too bad Pat doesn't get 5,000,000 annual visitors and pictures.

R1: Well, Jake tried. He got far, but he painfully went BANKRUPT. Then he hit it again. Good job for Bonnie though.

Yes, I also no-lettered TU2 (partially due to Vanna having trouble lighting up the first letter).

Oof, I think a rough R1 pretty much set the tone for this episode (and those missolves from Jake in the TTUs didn't do any favors either).

BR: I had it off RSTLNE. I know it's no guarantee of a solve when all of the picks are up there, but I'm kinda surprised Jake was silent the whole time.

EDIT: Time to go a couple months without a T-Mobile puzzle! The next one will be on 12/21.

Bonnie mistakenly picked up her white thing on the second toss up. That was funny. Luckily she picked it up before anyone else rang in

Crazy Round 1. A lot of penalties. Jake almost hit the MDW with 1 letter left. That would have been great to pick up with the only thing being left to do is solve.

Got the bonus puzzle right. Had FOCUSING ON THE off RSTLNE, got POSITIVE with his picks. Took me a while to figure out POSITIVE. I didn't get that word till the timer started

This episode wasn’t that exciting, sans the contestants’ personalities. Gina was quite emotive, I could relate to Jake being an “old soul,” and Bonnie’s TU2 mishap had me rolling. 😂

Did they really need the first word in TU1? Anyway, I got R2 pretty fast but thought TTU1 was MIRROR. I also found it interesting that Bonnie called the first letter of her name quite early in the Prize Puzzle.

I had the BR with RSTLNE, and maybe a C in the first word would’ve done it for Jake?

My rating: 5

As a guy from suburban Chicago - I actually don't live too far from where Bonnie lives, believe it or not - I always enjoy when Chicago is featured, but it felt like a lot of these puzzles weren't really Chicago-centric, which kind of disappointed me. Still, a halfway decent episode. Although I was amused at the B-roll footage during the intro - at one point they showed the lions at Lincoln Park Zoo...but it was in their old habitat, which was completely redesigned and just reopened last week, which meant that footage was recorded prior to mid-2019 when the old lion exhibit closed. Most people probably wouldn't notice but since the new exhibit just opened, that kind of made me laugh.

Fan of Wheel since the early '90s. My favorite seasons are 13 and 14. Currently recapping all the episodes in my collection.

Because of the pandemic I wouldn't think they were able to have Pat and Vanna do any new on location shoots and everything shown this week was actually filmed pre-2020. That, and there's no way they would shoot something to air within one week.

Everything with Pat and Vanna is recycled from the first GAC week they did for that city, so for Chicago, that footage was taped circa Summer 2016.
