I have read through these boards and learned a great deal. I have been a long time fan of the show. It got me into my field of graphics and communications making versions back in the 1980s. Anyway this past summer I began building one from scratch to have as a conversation piece in my home office. I'll post more photos as I get more done. I currently have it on a plexiglass base with LED's and have used my wife's cricket for the wheel's lettering etc. This is a fun hobby as I can work on it.

That's beautiful! How did you do the sparkly outlines around the numbers? Would love to see the full layout.

Thanks! I used Adobe Illustrator and did an outline of 1 pt. Then I cut out numerals out of holographic vinyl. Afterwards I laid down the black vinyl with no outline inside of it.

I am so looking forward to see the first version of this when it's finished. What are the diameters of the Wheel and the stand it's on?

It is a 19" diameter wheel with a 24" plexiglass base. The base is actually an inverted brushed steel light fixture.

Hope everyone has had a great holiday and a blessed 2022 awaits. The project is coming along well, here is a photo, with a close-up that shows how I did the vinyl. I either need to have the contestant stands 3D printed or out of wood. So working that angle. I need to figure out what substance to make the flippers out of. Maybe 3D printed rubber? Any ideas appreciated.

I've been trying to experiment with flipper materials myself such as plastic and foam board. I wonder how rock or stone would fare.
BTW, I love how you made the number outlines glisten. I'm sure everyone here is wondering how you made that happen. Anyway, Happy New Year. I'm looking forward to seeing what more surprises you have in store for us with this model come 2022.

For my flippers, I use 3D printed TPE or TPU. TPE is one of the better flex materials, but it can be harder to find and tends to print out a bit yellowed, so I switched to TPU--but not all brands are the same. Hatchbox white TPU seems to work the best, but unfortunately they stopped selling it on Amazon for some reason. The only other brand of TPU I've tried is SainSmart which comes out a bit harder than I would like--perhaps it can be played with a bit to make it a bit more "rubbery" (reducing infill could do it).
Hope this helps!

Will, you sure outdid yourself on this. You made that thing almost like a pro. I wish I could see a video of it in action.

Awesome. I like making wheels in virtual platforms. I don't know how to build one.
