APPLICABLE: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday
I've waited too much and since wheelfan82 will be putting up a boatload of Christmas-themed episodes the next few days, here's the rest of S17's Home for the Holidays for you.
Now, can you figure out this puzzle?
INTRO CLIP (5/6/98): Richard Eaton picks up Pat and places him over his scoreboard after winning a $10,350 Jackpot.
S17, EPISODE #3187: HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS
Airdate: 12/7/99
After Pat goes over the rules the studio audience must follow, we learn that the answer isPOPPLE DIPS SUPPLE LIPS (never heard of 'em till now...apparently, the same goes for Pat and the entire panel).
Tuesday's contestants:
Miguele Atkins: Chicago. Stock exchange worker as a senior listing representative who's a die-hard Cubs fan.
Jeff Call: West Jordan, UT. Works for a major training consulting firm for corporations who's married (the couple just had a baby boy named Justin). He's also a big Utah Jazz fan.
Colleen Studebaker: Escondido, CA. Web page graphic designer/musician (sings, song-writes; plays piano, saxophone, clarinet) who's a newlywed (2 months). Her dog can say "I love you".
Pat's still annoyed about the SUPPLE LIPS puzzle.
After reading the answer, let's see if Jeff can add a 3 to his score...
Yes those things are RIBBONS.
DUDS: S (Miguele), L (Jeff), M (Colleen), D (Miguele), B (Jeff)
1ST PRIZE ADDED TO WHEEL: Toshiba rear projection TV (marked BIG SCREEN), $3,000
This probably should've been LANDMARK (and would've been funny if Jeff solved it), but Colleen nonetheless pinpoints ZION NATIONAL PARK IN UTAH. Appropriately enough, her mom's Mormon.
DUD: S (Jeff)
2ND PRIZE ADDED TO WHEEL: 14-day Collette Tour of Austria, Switzerland and Germany (marked Germany), $7,438
JACKPOT ROUND
Miguele remembers that FORD INTRODUCES THE MUSTANG to keep the TV (4/17/1964 to be exact).
DUDS: P (Jeff), L (Colleen)
BANKRUPTS: 2 (non-Jeffs)
LEFT BEHIND IN POT: $9,000
We didn't leave much time for this round, so Pat's going to give it one more spin. And look at this...it landed on $6,000! If that doesn't give you SUPPLE LIPS, nothing will...
And right before the buzzer, Jeff hears the sound of a WHISTLING TEAPOT to take the victory.
DUDS: R (Jeff), C & M (Miguele)
FINAL SCORES
WINNINGS SO FAR: $23,100
BANKRUPT TRASH: $1,550
BONUS ROUND
LETTER PICKED: H
RSTLNE almost reveals the first half of this answer:
Yeah, we're pretty sure Jeff knew it already with GMCA...
The contestant window didn't appear until after he called his letters.
SANTIAGO, Chile it is for the $25,000! His dad joins the celebration.
JEFF'S FINAL TOTAL: $40,650 (all cash)
Vanna also hasn't heard of the term SUPPLE LIPS before. SUPPLE LUGGAGE? Maybe.
Adam S's copy has the long version of the King World logo at the end.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Up until Pat took his spin, this game was nothing special. Though it's nice to see a poorly written Preview Puzzle being a running gag and the Bonus Round being easy as pie. 7/10
