An excellent rebound by Shafi after that bad missolve in round 1, thanks to the Prize Puzzle win and TTU sweep.

I was worried he needed the P or O to solve the bonus, but good job by Shafi to prove me wrong. The C was all the extra help he needed.

Shafi solved the final 5 puzzles of the main game. That was a great dominant run by him to comeback and win it. Great game by him tonight despite that missolve by him in Round 1. I blanked on that bonus puzzle. Glad he pulled it out. Feels great to have a BR win after a dominant main game because it feels like after so many dominant main games the bonus round went unsolved

Even before what happened in Round 1, Shafi already had some redemption by solving the $2000 Toss-Up very quickly. Nevertheless, he ended up getting even more redemption by not only winning the game but going on to become the first Bonus Round winner of 2022, and it all happened on the 47th Anniversary of the show's premiere on NBC.

Recap posted. I have some mixed feelings about the game itself.

I was ready to call it quits after Shafi missolved R1. Messing up a patriotic tune on live TV is embarrassing enough. It didn't help that Pam got too greedy before that moment (or maybe she didn't know it either...I'm kinds baffled).

France was definitely an interesting choice for the Trip Puzzle. That easily could've been another run-of-the-mill Caribbean vacation.

Great to see another Triple Toss-Up sweep, though it took some shoddy playing from the ladies to get to that feat (well from Pam at least, Deborah's guess was valid).

S-U: That was definitely a pretty weak spin from Shafi. I'm guessing he purposefully did that just so he could set sail for Bonus Land. And again, shoddy playing yet again led to another big payday at the end. Go figure.

BR: That, however, I was stumped on like jakemathis4520 . I'm not a big pool player, so I had no idea they were called these. A fine job by Shafi right there.

So yeah, with all that, it's around a low 7/10. Could've been a better episode, but it's fine enough, I guess.

ON THE MAP

I know we celebrated San Diego earlier this season, but I'm really in love with the place itself and it really is America's Finest City. The puzzle shown might be my favorite part of San Diego (appropriately named "The Jewel"). There's a cute village off the coast (plus one between the 5 and the 805), a world-renowned university, dramatic landscapes and dare I say the best beaches in the state. If you live there or nearby, I suggest a beach day there.

Shafi came on very strong after his R1 mishap. How he nailed TTU2 is beyond me.

Speaking of said round, I no-lettered it. But I thought TTU3 was GOLDEN NICKEL. And I sure wasn’t expecting France as the PP trip. Perhaps they made a resolution to add variety?

I thought the second word of the BR was ACES until the C popped up. Good thing that was all he needed to give us the first BR win of the year.
