S14, EPISODE #2622: WHEEL INTO 1997
Airdate: 1/7/97
Tuesday's contestants:
Tiffany Goodrum: Houston, TX (orig. from Lovelady). Worker for a local builders association who recently graduated from LeTourneau University with a business degree. She also enjoys fishing.
Jeff Baker: Decatur, GA. He and wife Tanya are involved in co-ed sports and both were city kickball champs.
Kiva Turk: Los Angeles. Recently graduated from UCLA grad school (public health) who's currently applying to medical school. She likes to traveling.
After lucking out, Tiffany's won this Hammerman GC used to purchase a diamond frog pin (136 diamond weighing 3.5 carats; $7,480).
DUDS: S (Tiffany), B (Jeff), C (Kiva)
PRIZE ADDED TO WHEEL: trip to Bally's Casino Resort (marked LAS VEGAS), $3,150
Oddly enough, there was no zoom-in for the prize wedge.
Kiva solves FIRST SUPER BOWL & THE GRADUATE.
BONUS!
Now for an extra $2,000, can she figure out the exact year of the puzzle in question? She has a choice from...
1965
1966
1967
She's off by a year with 1966. It was 1967.
DUD: N (Jeff)
JACKPOT ROUND
Kiva IDs LLOYD, BEAU & JEFF BRIDGES.
DUD: N (Kiva)
BANKRUPTS: 2 (others)
LEFT BEHIND IN POT: $12,450
DING DING! DING DING!
So...why not start right away? Pat didn't even mention the $5,000 wedge at the top of this round and it seems like he wanted to get this episode finished but the producers insisted otherwise.
FINAL SPIN: $5,000
Well, that makes up for it, I guess.
Tiffany's got A CORD OF FIREWOOD.
DUDS: T (Jeff; side before bell), H Tiffany), S (Jeff), N (Kiva), L (Tiffany)
BANKRUPT: Tiffany
FINAL SCORES
WINNINGS SO FAR: $25,280
BANKRUPT TRASH: $1,950
BONUS ROUND
LETTER PICKED: second E
RSTLNE gives Tiffany a couple:
MDCO gives just the vowel...
After saying RAIN a couple times...she gets RAINBOW at the halfway mark to win the Amtrak vacation! Mom Susie and a guy named Mike join the celebration.
TIFFANY'S FINAL TOTAL: $35,780 ($23,300, the pin and the Amtrak trip; eligible for Friday Final)
A cord of wood is 4 ft high, 4 ft deep and 8 ft long.
OVERALL THOUHGTS: I guess my biggest beef with this episode was the time issue in R4 (they should've probably jumped straight to the Final Spin with a slightly bigger puzzle). Jeff blew a few chances at big money and Tiffany made great work in the Bonus Round. Still a solid watch all the way through. 7/10
